I figured that would garner a response or two from some men who aren't cut from that cloth--so good to know there are some still out there!!! Seriously, I do realize that those things don't appeal to all men, just the men we want to ship to that island!! :)

Your wife is a lucky gal...

I'm sure if you asked her, she'd say she's the luckiest gal in the world to have me, but she'd still tell you I'm an a-hole.  The dichotomy of being me.

SUCK UP!

I hate beer, but love a good Tequlia.
I Lived in Vegas for YEARS! and never stepped foot in a strip club.
As for porn, why watch it go out and live it!

I think if you have any issues in your relationship entering this process, the changes in post op life, appearance and self esteem will only enhance the problems.  Some people are able to work through things and some aren't, somethings may be worth working through others aren't.

I know from my stand point this surgery has strenghtened my relationship with my wife. I know for her that it has caused some issues but these are all based on "What if" Type BS and we have talked through things, and now we are waiting for the newest addition to our family due next month!

My wife has speculated about the "what if" type BS and I've only lost 52lbs. so far, so I see a few more reassuring conversations in my future.  But like you, I know that WLS will have a more strengthening effect on my already strong marriage. Plus, she's my second wife, so I made sure to pick a good one. LOL

"then back to the island they go with all the beer, sports, strippers, and porn they can handle." Yeah and don't forget video games. My ex was addicted to video games and video gaming online (World of Warcraft) as well as porn... My ex left me for someone he met online playing World of Warcraft. This was before RNY.

I've never understood why grown men play video games, especially the online variety.

Me either! I did ask my ex that question and his reply was that ALL men play video games...
(in his reality).

Oh Lord--video games! My ex boyfriend was addicted too. Worst part was he'd get fired from a job and I'd come home from working all day and find him playing a video game. More than one Nintendo system met its demise--I'll leave it at that!

Sorry your ex did that to you. I've wondered if things like porn and video games affect a nerve center in their brains or something that make it so irresistable. I do believe they truly become addicted, yet there is no physical component to the addiction, so it is kind of hard to relate to.

Best to you!

Raises hand.

I do believe my self-confidence and self-esteem being 100% better lead in part to my recent divorce.  I was married to an alcoholic (10 years alcohol free) and I had had enough of it, so that also was a major contributor to the divorce.

I would also say that communication was not there enough.  I knew that, and tried to talk about feelings/emotions/etc. but couldn't get him to communicate.  Therapy I did, he wouldn't he didn't need it *sigh*.

It was very tough initially and I still have some days that I struggle with being divorced BUT I also have MANY, MANY days that are happier.

In hindsight, it should have happened years ago.  I didn't want to be a WLS statistic and having come from a divorced family I felt I had to give extra to try to keep it together for my children.  What I'm finding is my children are also much happier and more respectful now then when we were together.

If you want/need to talk feel free to PM me.
