Mid-afternoon slump--how do you fight it?

So here it is 2:00ish. I have been to the gym, run errands, and had a nice, healthy lunch free of too many carbs that might cause a low after eating them. I've had plenty of fluid, all my vitamins--good day all around. HOWEVER, I am about to fall asleep sitting here. Every afternoon around this time I get soooo sleepy. Some days I cave and lie down (don't work outside of the home, so that makes it a little easier. I don't suggest if for those of you that do work outside the home!! LOL!). Other days I press through, but a coffee is usually in order.

Do you suffer from the mid-day sleepies? If so, how do you combat it and press on sans caffeine? If not, how on earth do you avoid it?

Sometimes I just give in and take a nap.  If I really want to stay away, I try to get up and do something active.  I work from home too and if I get really sleepy during the afternoon, I'll take a break and go run some errands or do some cleaning or something.  In fact, I'm getting ready to go wash dishes in just a minute.  Hard to fall asleep when I'm standing up!

My former job, I would take a nap being that my supervisor's 2 sister's had the band so she knew what I was going thru. 

This position I either go to the bathroom my lunch period and nap or get up and move aruond..
Babygirl got her surgery March 3rd...     She's from 339 to 200 as of 6/14/2012.. SOO proud of my bigbabygirl

Is your breakfast and/or lunch a little heavier in carbs?  I find that on days I have more carbs I tend to have a yawnier afternoon.  The heavier it is in protein vs carbs - those days seem to be better.  I don't have that exhausted I just wanna take a nap feeling.

That's the thing...not heavy carb lunch today at all. Tuna on like four high protein lava bean cracker thingies. I'll be keeping an eye on it. I did have a carb heavy breakfast (kashi cereal with milk). Wonder if that could bug me all those hours later?

When I get the mid-day sleepies, the only thing that will keep me awake is sex.  Sometimes I'll even ask my wife to join me.
