OK, I would think you have expressed enough passive/agressive stuff on this thread.  You speak
of getting good info, and thanks, etc., then say things about people and their unconcious drives to
insult others.

Let it go, honey.

Sorry, no guilt here... Just lack of patience with posts such as yours that pop up every now and then.

It's posts like this that drove me away. I've hardly posted in months now.

We've ALL BEEN THERE.... and now we're HERE.... it's a process and everyone goes through it. You can't call people out for being at whatever stage of the journey they are at.

ACCEPT that there's a lot of junk, just like the supermarket. Get what you really need and ignore the rest. Don't complain because you don't have good filters, or that people aren't saying things the way YOU want to hear it.

Awww that makes me feel good.

I've missed a lot of the people from OH

I don't really know that I've missed OH itself

I'm still in my self-imposed task of editing 2500 pages of fiction (it's close to 3000 pages) and school started on Wednesday. With classes in the 50s! I don't have much time for anything. I have also been consulting on the side, and dealing with and learning to understand Reactive Hypoglycemia has taken a huge chunk of my attention, because I'm at the point where it's hard to remember I even HAD WLS, but having wild blood sugar swings and getting close to comatose makes me feel that the RH is far more important than my weight or lack of weight.

Ah well. It's nice to visit and see the people I've been missing! Just not the Drama stuff.

Wow, looks like this thread got a LOT of people's hormone's going today!  :)

Although I've been a member for awhile, I've mostly been posting since my surgery last Wednesday.  Some people here do tend to be pretty blunt and there have been a few replies where people have been a little rude. "I don't understand where you got THAT idea about the surgery?" was something I heard from a few people.  Obviously a response like that is only designed to insult but what the heck, there are a lot of myths out there about the surgery.  Some even coming from surgeons!  So I'm just going with it.

Opinions are what I come here for so even if I get a comment that rubs me the wrong way I try to take it at face value and utilize the positive information that was shared.  I could find a lot of this info online but I sure wouldn't get the diverse opinions and answers from members.

So- to everyone with an opinion and an answer, snarky or not, thanks!  And to you Jazlenesmommy, if you really feel that strongly I'll be sorry to see you lose such a valuable resource!

Not at all

Number one, I have never seen someone actually word something in such a blunt way.  If you can point me to examples from a "few people", I will be happy to retract my statement.  I think perhaps it is more likely that you read the tone into what they said.  There is a big difference between saying "where did you get that information from?" vs. "where did you get THAT information from?" vs. "why would you believe something like that?".

Number two, when someone asks where the information came from, it is usually designed to
1) help people understand the various sources of misinformation ("nutritionists", surgeons, members of the general public, people who have had OTHER surgeries (and have an agenda), etc.)... because some people go into this surgery believing that everything their surgeon or nut says is gospel truth
2) express exasperation/frustration that often "nutritionists" (and sometimes even surgeons) say absolutely ludicrous things to their patients/clients

I think I've posted things like "where did you get that idea?" before.  I don't mean to be insulting by it, but I think I've posted it.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

My point was, though, that there is a difference between "where did you get that idea?" and "where did you get THAT idea?"... without caps or bolding or something, if someone interprets the latter when what was actually written was the former, that is a perception issue on the part of the reader.
