Water

I have been told to get in 64 oz a day. Currently, I am getting it in, but not all in just plain water. Normally, it is 8 oz skim milk, 16 oz hot herbal decaf tea, 16 oz water with crystal light, 16 oz plain water and the last 8 oz either plain water, sugar free sno ball, or V-8 juice.

Should more of my liquids be consumed as just plain water?

Thanks

Hi there,

Looks good to me. Granted I don't know what a snowball is (except for the ones you use to throw at little brothers).

I personally find plain water too heavy. I drink diet snapple or make my own tea. I try to stay away from aspertame as it triggers migrains for me. Sometimes I just fill a shaker cup or other wide mouth container with water and drop lemon slices in it. I also have issues with low potassium so I drink more then usual "G2" series gatorade.

You can always call your dr office. They are there to support you.
Hope I helped a bit.

You're doing fine.  Better than fine.  In the 13 months since my surgery, I have never been able to get 64 ounces of water in a day, no matter what form it's in.  Yet, all my labs have been great and I've lost nearly 130 pounds.
Keep doing what you're doing.  Two feet past your pouch, you body can't tell the difference between plain water and water with solids suspended in it.

It's not jus****er, it's 64 oz of fluids, so chicken broth and even your protein shakes can count towards you fluid intake.

It looks like you are doing just fine.

Sounds good to me! Also tried Mio or True Lemon? Sometimes just a tiny bit of flavor can help you get liquids down.

Hey!  I saw you post about snowballs and then looked at where you are from.  Yup...had to be Louisiana!!  I spent almost 2 years off/on for work there and go to know snowballs very well.  I can definitely say that mine were NOT sugar free.  :)

For those that don't know what they are...they are absolutely delicious.  It is the idea of a snowcone, but 500 times better.  The ice is shaved in such a way that it really does taste like snow.  Then they put syrup on it (in her case, sugar free) and then if you want the creme de la creme...ask for condensed milk on top of it!!  Ok, well, don't do that AFTER the surgery...maybe something before.  They are definitely delicious!!

my nutritionist says different things than my surgeon, very annoying! the nut says if i drink CL that i have to drink a glass of h2o along with it, so the CL doesnt count. my surgeon & his RN say CL counts, so what gives? LOL.

Just make sure the CL is decaf. If you drink caffeine then you can not count it towards the daily fluid intake...as is most docs rules.

I do not dink plain water ever it hurts my pouch. But I drink cl, mio water, decaf hot tea.

Your surgeon is trained to do surgery and has had 1 or 2 class on nutrition. Your NUT has been trained in nutrition. Listen to the expert when it is their area of expertise. You wouldn't let your nut do surgery on you for this exact reason.
