Am I done???
I had surgery on March 17 so it's been almost 5 months and I still have about 60-65lbs to lose but I'm feeling like I'm done losing. I hit a stall last month and finally the scale dropped 7lbs but now it's not moving again. I just realized my 6 month check up is next month and I'm afraid my Dr is going to be disappointed in my loss. I'm a slow loser compared to a lot of you OH'ers but I know everyone is different... however... I'm just wondering if anyone else is/has felt this way. I"m not done losing right? I will continue to lose right??? I know we lose up to 18 months after surgery but I feel like I'm the exception and I'm done! Psychological issues maybe??? Grrrr!
Yes... I do need to up my exercise. I'll be the first to admit that. But I have reevaluated my food intake and I know track everyting I eat and have talked to others and my nut about it and they've all said I was doing/eating what I should be for the most part. Maybe more exercise will push me. I'm so close to the 100's I can taste it but I feel like I"m never gonna get there!!!
I'll be six months out September 1st and I feel the same way sometimes. It been three weeks since I lost weight. I have been wavering between 185-186 for weeks. I monitor my calories and protein, and I eat 1100 calories or less daily. I exercise eight hours a week - gym for an hour every morning before work, and an hour long karate class 3x a week after work. I still have thirty pounds to lose and I'm afraid of not losing it AND regaining...because it seems like nothing really "bothers" me now food wise and I can eat more than I was eating. I started measuring my food again this week because I was nervous about my intake. It seems to be in line.
I don't think I am in starvation mode; I eat enough. Some days I'll burn 500-700 calories through exercise. I know I've built muscle and that weighs more, but I still have weight to lose - fat around my stomach and thighs for SURE.
I never thought any of this would be easy but its still hard to do the right thing all the time and not have the scale move...

You have lost 110 pounds!!! It doesn't matter if it came off before your surgery or after, all that matters is it came off!!! You are almost in the 100's of course your weight loss is going to slow down a little you are on the final stretch. I know you want it off now, we all do! but like everyone says it took YEARS to gain all that weight you can't expect to lose it all over night, looks to me like you are doing awesome!!
I have lost all my weight since my 2 week pre op diet, I don't do anything special.. I eat 800 calories a day, 70 grams of protein. I eat almost all protein, I've been slacking in the gym department and only going 2x per week. I can see how it would be frustrating if other people are losing so much faster.. BUT you just have to keep telling yourself it's not a race and all that matters is getting to the finish line, and YOU WILL GET THERE!!!

We don't necessarily lose up to 18 months after surgery. There's nothing magical about 18 months. We lose until we start consuming as many calories as we burn. For some that happens before 18 months, for some not 'til after 18 months.
However, it would be very unusual to stop losing at just five months. You're just experiencing a stall. They happen. You'll keep losing.
Don't worry about disappointing your doctor. For one thing, it's not your job to please your doctor. It's your doctor's job to help you. So if he feels you're losing slower than you should be, it's his job to help you figure out why and what to do about it.

In my search for stalls on this forum, Father Don put it the best I've heard it......
Here's my standard answer to "pauses" that everyone calls a stall:
A stall is something that last 6 weeks or more. You are in a correction period.
Weight loss is like a teeter-totter....
One one side is pounds, the other inches....
If you stop going down on pounds, the inches will go down . Are you measuring?
Then the inches will slow and pounds will drop...
this is normal and NOT a stall, it's a correction period that your body uses to catch up.....
Make sure you eating enough...if you don't...your body will go into "starvation" mode....

I completely understand how you feel. I am six months out (2/10/11 surgery) and I have been bouncing around between 194-197 for almost a month and a half!!! It is extremely frustrating. I keep telling myself that I can't be done losing yet and it is just a stall. I also track what I eat and all seems to be well, although a little low on protein occasionally. I also can't excercise right now due to a broken rib, so that is even more frustating knowing there is nothing else I can do to help the loss start up again.
I say just stick with the plan and you should start losing again soon. That's what I'll keep telling myself too!! :)
