tips to avoid a hernia - gonna be working
I start my new job on Monday. Since I'll be spending a bit of time out of town for this job and school is starting (I've got two night classes), I absolutely HAVE to get hay for the horses in this weekend. I've already paid for it and we're picking it up on Sunday. These are 90lb square bales that we're going to have to stack on the trailer then stack in my barn.
What I need is some tips to hopefully avoid a hernia. I'm assuming I'm more susceptible now that I've had abdominal surgery? I'm going to be lifting, twisting with weight and maybe tossing. *sigh*
I went from bored/unhappy to OMG I've got too much to do in like 30 seconds. I'm going to the rodeo in Sikeston tomorrow night too so not only will I have to work my ass off Sunday, I'll be doing it on very little sleep. At least it's only supposed to be in the low 80's Sunday.
Thanks everybody!!!

You are far enough out that all of your incisions should be sufficiently healed and you should not need to do anything special. Also, incisional hernias are MUCH more common with open surgery than lap surgery so, to my knowledge, just because you have had one (healed) lap surgery does not place you at any greater risk for a hernia.
