Nectar Carribean Cooler - HELP!

I know everyone has different tastes. I had read on here somewhere that a lot of people like the Nectar protein powders. I've had several samples sitting here and today I started my liquid diet and I've TRULY been dreading trying these protein powders.

I find it very difficult to make myself drink something I think is gross. I even called and chatted with someone at the Syntrax place and he said he himself drinks these every day and that they do NOT have a protein taste to them like so many other protein drinks do. My goodness, I am having to force myself to drink this stuff!!!

I am using a cup with a top on it so I don't smell it as I've often seen suggested here. I can still taste it though and I hate it.

I don't want to waste a bunch of these opening them all up now before surgery as I know my tastes may change, but on this liquid diet I'm on before surgery I am told to have two protein shakes per day.

HELP!! What can I do to make something that I don't find disgusting on a liquid diet. It would probably be better if I could put it in pudding or something else, I don't know.

Thanks!!

When I first tried the carribean cooler I thought it was awful...then I started adding raspberry lemonade Walmart brand , that's when I really started to like it.  I have to add walmart brand crystal light to all and it makes a big difference.

Candie, so you just add the crystal light type stuff to it and it takes away that protein taste? I'm going to add something to it right now and see if it works!

Thank you!!

Ok, what I had on hand that I thought would go with the Caribbean cooler was Lemonade Crystal Light, it improved it, but still not anything I can enjoy.

I guess I will have to keep experimenting.

Thanks again.

Everyone's taste buds are different--I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with
the Carribbean Cooler--I had the same problem with the fuzzy Navel.  Loved it pre-op,
couldn't get it past my lips post-op!!

Do you have any chocolate protein powder in your samples?   You just have to keep
trying.  I like the Isopure products, available at GNC, or I understand that Walmart has
a good one.  Just remember, my results may not be YOUR results!!

Good luck!

It helps a lot if you blend it ina blender with ice.  I have to have all my protein extremely cold, almost frozen to kill the protein taste.

Yes, that is actually what I did was blend it with ice. Still taste the protein powder. Thanks for the advice though, I really appreciate it.

Add more water and ice than what it says. They are very strong.

I'm sorry to confess but I too tried tons of protein shakes for my liquid faze before surgery. BIG MISTAKE! Every single one I loved made me gag as soon as I got home from the hospital, even my beloved fuzzy navel. Then suddenly at 8 months my current shake started to taste funny so I decided to try the nectar again to try and find a low calorie protein drink I could tolerate. OMG I loved 4 of the nectars again but not the exact same four I loved before.

My first advice about protein is stockpile all the samples you can get before surgery but don't try any of them until you get home after. What a waste of 100+ dollars on my part. A couple others that I have told the same thing to made my same mistake and it cost them money and frustration. Use my list I have posted in the past and order all the free and cheap samples you can AND don't try a one till after surgery. You will be happier

Yeah, I know about the tastes changing after surgery. Unfortunately, I am told to have two protein shakes today and tomorrow as part of my liquid diet.

So, I'm trying to get it down as I don't want to open them all up and not have any for post op to see how they taste.
