quick pre op question
Did you have the camera down the throat with anesthesia OR the drink and x rays.? I need to call office tomorrow because I've been given conflicting information between the PA at the doctor's office and the person who sets up the appointments at the hospital.
Getting someone to drive me is going to be a huge problem if I need the camera because hubby doesn't get bac****il a week before surgery.

I had the camera down the throat. I probably only had it a week before my surgery, so if that's what you need done, maybe it can wait until your hubby gets home. If not, are there any family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers you could ask to drive you? Or that could at least drive you home - maybe you could get there yourself by bus or cab if necessary?

Yeah she says it won't wait for hubby. He's home a week before the day of surgery but I have to have everything done by then for my pre op appointment. I was thinking if my friend can't do it, I might shout out my neighbors to see if someone can take me and someone else can pick me up. I just hate my business being out there. beggars can't be choosers so I'll have to do what I have to do.
I'll hold off until tomorrow and verify what's what.
BTW Poet Kelly, my nutrition class went well today I thought. I felt they were up to speed with everything. I got a binder full of info and they went over the difference between the two calcium's and had it written in bold in the folder.

You wouldn't necessarily have to tell a neighbor why you were having the test. You could just say you have to have a test done on your stomach and if they asked for details you could thank them for their concern but politely say it makes you uncomfortable to talk about it. Most people respond pretty well if you just say you're uncomfortable talking about it. That usually goes over better than none of your business!
I'm glad the nutrition class went well and they're up to speed on stuff. That will certainly make things easier for you.

Hey!
I'm a patient of Dr Moazzez's too for bypass (surgery date is Monday *cue the happy dance*...any way...yeah you have to get it down before you last pre-op and they prefer that you have it at LEAST 2-3 weeks before surgery incase you test positive for h. pylori (which I did). If you test positive for it, you will be placed on antibiotics and antiacids for two weeks and he will NOT do your surgery until you have completed it. If you are getting the procedure at Fairoaks, they won't let you leave by cab or bus either, you have to have a driver. For bypass it's the camera down the throat that they put you to sleep for not the chalky drink...that's after surgery to check for leaks. I'm assuming the PA Amy told you it was the drink...she's a bit of a nit wit IMO so I'd check with Pam or Gabby in front to confirm.
Good Luck with everything!

They did a blood test for H pylori which came back negative, so hopefully that won't be a problem. I'm on antibiotics at the moment anyway for a double ear infection which has been pretty bad but a whole other story.
Good to know about the cab. I think the PA was called Tiffini, but I could be wrong in that, the vicodin is making me fuzzy, I guess.
They left a message confirming what you are saying this am. so whoever it was got mixed up yesterday.
Good luck with your surgery on Monday. Did you have to do the optifast before surgery?
Oh one more thing, how long did the camera thing take? If I get a volunteer, they will want to know.
