Got so sick from dinner

I had homemade tandoori chicken at my grandmas house. I didn't eat the skin and I ate really slow. I'm pretty sure there was no added sugar but even if there is I've always been able to handle sugar. It was real moist too and I chewed a lot. BUT UGH. My chest feels like an elephant is sitting on it and I got the biggest headache and so nausious. I haven't experienced that in awhile. Then I thew up lots of foam. Foamies suck.  I just wanted to share my pain and see if anyone has any thoughts as to WHY I got sick.

I am unfamiliar with that chicken dish but maybe it could be if there was alot of oil in the dish or butter that could have caused it.    I know I myself can dump just as easily on fat and oil as I can from sugar....even at almost 6 yrs. post op.   Hope you feel better really soon.    I usually just go to bed and sleep it off when I get dumping syndrome.......particularly after I have "lost" what made me ill.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Even tender chicken I can't eat but I'm not as far out as you. I can only eat the short cuts that are precooked and sliced. But I can eat a burger off the grill??? Strange. Aweful feeling isn't it?

I am 18 months post op and have not had the foamies in months but had them twice in 1 day 2 weeks ago! I think I ate too fast and didn't chew well--just proved to me my pouch is still boss!

Sometimes it's impossible to find a reason.  Those episodes where I would get horribly sick for no reason that I could figure out have happened less and less the further out I get, which I am very glad for.  But just yesterday I ate a protein bar that has some sugar but not too much for, at least not usually too much for me, and had some mild dumping symptoms which has not happened to me in forever.  LIke, probably over a year.  Go figure.

Ugh, foamies suck. And I agree with Kelly, sometimes there's just not a reason. Give yourself a day of less challenging foods and hopefully your pouch will get back with the program and realize YOU"RE in charge, not the pouch. (I gotta say that quietly, for if my pouch hears me, she'll spit up food just to spite me.)

Your pouch is a she? Does she have a name?

I have episodes with chicken. It made me sick a lot at first so I stopped eating it. Then I tried it again and I could only eat the dark meat type or the kind with more moisture, no grilled stuff. Then I was fine for a month and had a foamies episode again. I can't relate it back to anything other than possibly not chewing well enough?

I'm three weeks out and had an awful day with chicken last week. I cooked a chicken thigh in the crock pot for hours until it fell apart. I ate about  2 ounces of it. It sat in my chest around my sternal notch and eventually an hour or so later came back up. I don't know why, it just never sat right.
