new scales suck rotten apples :(

I have had the same scale for 3 yrs.... two years with the band (and some), and with my bypass. I am down a size from when My scale died (rip) and the new one says I've gained 10 pounds????? OMG How could that be? There is no adjustment for it either. Now I am constipated, and will fix that later, after the child's dr appt this afternoon. But 10 pounds???????? I'm a bit freaked out. Yet I went from a 14/16 to mostly all 12's pants in this same period of time. I just don't get it. I think it probably is the new scale. And I bought the exact same one i had that recently died. I thought it would be the same, or similar. I don't have any appts in the near future to compare to my surgeon's or pcp's. I may end up bringing it back. It's really making me angry.

Oh and for eating... I'm eating pretty much the same things every day. Protein coffee in the am. A scrambled egg with milk for more protein for breakfast. Lunch is usually tuna, with a tbsp of low fat mayo. Dinner is usually a turkey patty or chicken. ALWAYS Measured at 2-3 ounces for weight. I drink my 64 ounces of water a day. Usually more. Today my nausea is bad, so I haven't gotten in even 20 ounces of liquid (including my coffee).

I had the same problem when I bought a new scale.  I was so sure it was wrong that I took it back and bought a different kind.  Unfortunately it said the same thing so I had to live with it.  Now it doesn't bother me but at the time I was so mad.
What I did was when I went to the doctor and got weighed I tried to weigh as soon as possible afterwards, same clothes, nothing to eat or drink, to compare the weights.  And they were almost exactly the same so I had to trust my scale.  I think my old one was just being nice to me because I needed all the encouragement I could get in the beginning.
As far as what you are eating, it really doesn't look like enough.  How many calories are you getting in?  How about protein?  I get in at least 100 grams of protein and 100 oz of fluids a day and it really helped me lose the weight.  You don't want to be too low in calories or it could make your weight loss slower, too.

My surgeon and nut are really insistent that we not count calories at this stage. I did forget my chiboni yogurt for snack in the afternoon.

My stats so far for today. calories 447
fat 19 g
carbs 24 g
protein 44.6 g

Dinner will be shephards pie, heavy in the meat department, and I take off the potato topping on my share, weighed to be 3 ounces. Then heated up again (leftovers). So it's LEAN ground beef and cream corn and lima beans. Oh and I didn't log my protein, which is 20 grams in my coffee. So that brings me to 64. I didn't enter the shephards pie into my fit day yesterday, because I never got around to it.

I drink bottles of water that are 23.7 ounces, and have between 3 and 4 a day plus my cup of decaf coffee in the morning.

Does that sound better when broken down like that?

Tell me it's not an "Eat Smart" scale.

Anyway, try to mentally start over, the weight is just a number- you obviously didn't gain 10 lbs.  Just start at theis weight and start counting down again.

This seems like a good opportunity to remind yourself (and us) that it's about how you feel and not a number. The clothing size changes you mentioned and hopefully you're feeling better are the most important things. It will come off eventually. Don't worry.

Shoot the scale!!!!  Just kidding!  I would be frustrated, too, if we got a new scale and it showed a 10 lb weight gain! But, you said you were still losing in inches! So, I agree with the other posters, just keep doing what you are doing, and soon you will be at your next surgeon appt, and on their scale to compare.
