How long can a weight loss STALL last anyhow?

Has anyone experienced a weight loss stall lasting more than 3 weeks?  Just curious.  Seems like I've been at or around the same weight now for at least a couple of weeks, if not 3 weeks.  I might have lost 4 lbs this month.  It's concerning.

I know stalls happen & you go thru them,  but I wonder how long is too long to be hanging out at the same weight?

I've lost approx. 88 lbs since surgery in early March.  I feel great and think that I'm doing pretty good.  My goal weight loss is around 110-120 lbs. though, so I've got some more lbs. to lose.  I'm closing in on my 6 months out from surgery date and I think 88 lbs is good.  I know I'll get there one day, but these weight loss stalls are hard to deal with.  I guess weight loss really slows down when you reach 6 months out or so.  I'll have to "wait" this stall out and hopefully get back to losing again.  It's just a bit disappointing to see the same weight and not see that needle budge too much.  Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this too.

Thanks and have a great Thursday!

There is no timeline provided you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. I stalled at 7-9 months and remained within 5 lbs for several months. I was exercising and eating right and it wasn't moving but have faith.. it moved again for me and it will for you.

You're doing really great and your weight loss so far is phenomenal! Just keep doing what you are supposed to and following the plan and the scale will move again.

My longest on lasted around 2 MONTHS + (Right around month 6-8). VERY common with WLS paitients... You don't lose "all at once"...Think of it like a staircase.

You plateu...Lose a bout 1-3 lbs then "level out" and stall for about a week or two...Repeat, repeat, repeat.

it WILL come off. Every newbie under a year is so terrified that THEIR WLS is broken. When I hit my stalls I used the search feature above...Types in "Stall" and found literally HUNREDS of posts about it...Making me feel that it is very normal indeed.

Good luck
Warmly,.

I lost between 3 and 5 lbs a day for the first 9 days after surgery... then NOTHING until like day 27.  Since then, I lost in phases... lose 10 lbs.. nothing for a few weeks, lose 5 lbs, nothing for a week.

Don't worry.. and have you taken your measurements?  I know it's strange, but I only seemed to really lose inches during the times when the number on the scale wasn't moving.

I just lost a pants size and I actually gained two pounds this week.  *sigh*  My body is a mystery to me.  =]

Wow!

I lost 22 lbs during my pre-op, but was hospitalized within 24 hours for another problem. I'm 8 days out and still weigh 8 lbs more than I did the morning of my surgery. I'm not losing inches- my waist is 3" bigger than the morning of surgery.

I know it's all just fluids weight, as I haven't eaten anything really in the past 8 days. I keep smiling and reassuring the surgeon I'm not too upset, but I am. If I hadn't had 2 CT scans within 48 hours of surgery, I might not have believed that the surgery was done at all (They let me see the scans on the computer). I am having no problems getting in the 64 oz of fluid a day and 70-80g of protein, staying under 500 cal a day.

Looking forward to being back under 300 again.
