Need help with snacking

I am finding myself craving carb's, and feeling awful until I have some, between 4 and 7 each day. I try to cure it with peanut butter or some other healthly protien, but it does not work. I do not feel better intil I have had some form of carb, usually not a good one. I eat 2 protien shakes per day, 4 slices of turkey on a whole wheat sandwich thin, 2 teaspoons of reduced fat mayo, and one slice of WW cheese for lunch, and usually chicken or 93% ground beef for dinner. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I get those carb cravings too, usually for different reasons.  You are WAY further out then me, but I wanted to tell you that when the carb cravings are really bad I eat 100 calorie popcorn or almonds. It doesn't really fix it, but it puts a band aid on it.

I think I  my carb cravings are just bad habits that I am trying to break.  You might have another issue with cravings that bad this far out.  Have you talked to your doctor? Maybe you need some tests run to see if you are lacking something.

One thing I have when I'm craving something sweet is a Fiber One 90 calorie Brownie.  Sometimes I'll do a FiberPlus bar.  Either one of those hits the spot and I don't feel bad for eating them because they have so much fiber.  Also, they kind of have a built-in portion control, in that if I eat too many, I know I'll have gas all day long, but if I just eat one, they're ok.  (Sorry if that was TMI!)

Well our bodies need some carbs for sure... energy. Just pick 'em wisely. I love beans  (cannelini, garbanzo, a little protein (crab/tuna/shrimp/chicken/cold cuts/etc) on top), 12 or so almonds (chewing on those alone LOL), add some flax or almond meal to your shake to bulk it up make it more food-ish or if I want a sweetish carb I do a protein muffin.

and if all else fails I look at my list and pick one...

Can you eat a small amount of healthy complex carbs?  Like a few whole grain crackers?  Or does eat a few carbs trigger you to want more?  I myself cannot eat just a few crackers, I'd keep eating until I was stuffed or they were all gone.  But if you can eat just a few, that would be a perfectly fine way to deal with it.

Otherwise, I would say to keep all bad carbs out of the house so you can't eat them.

You may just be hungry, and your body wants a quick fix.  Is that all you are eating?  You may not be eating enough food--maybe cut out a shake and eat another meal.

Kashi bars work great for me when I need crunch and sweet--if I want salty, I'll usually eat a few whole grain crackers of low fat Ritz with colby cheese....but I count these as a meal....I eat 6-7 small meals per day, so I don't get hungry and don't get low blood sugar.

If that is all you eat I would guess that you are hungry!!!!!

You really should consider trying to get more of your protein in from food and just use the shakes if you haven't managed it! I bet you would find your carb craving would be less if you ate more!

I know I am a lot further out than you, but I can EASILY get in over 100g of protein a day (I average 120g)... with three meals and 2-3 snacks. It's a question of good choices.

I'm with Kim. That was my thought too when I read what you eat. You are hungry!

Have a salad...some fruit. These are healthy carbs that will fill you up without lots of calories.  You need more variety in your diet. I was eating like you in the beginning and my NUT scolded me at my 2mo check-up and told me to eat some stinkin' healthy carbs. LOL.
