Lora, SO glad that they found what they did and hopefully did what is necessary to resolve the issues!  You hung in there and pressed for the care you deserved... and while now you've got a mega-long incision to show for it, hopefully the sharp belly pain will be a thing of the past.

So happy for you... heal well and quickly!

 Hi Lora,

I'm so glad that you aren't having any necrosis which I know you were so worried about, and that you are healing well.  I must have missed yesterday's post about what they found.  My son had knee surgery yesterday so I wasn't on.  What did they find and were they able to fix it?  It sounds like you are feeling much better.  So happy they finally went in and fixed the problem.

Heal well!

I was pretty drugged up so only posted on the  main forum.  Guess maybe I should have cross-posted.

Lora - I'm getting caught up on posts after being MIA for a couple weeks taking step dad back and forth to Indianapolis for malignant meloma and surgery yesterday.  I didn't realize you had surgery.

Glad it is over for you.  I'm "assuming" the issue was adhesions??  Wishing you a speedy and uneventful recovery.  I'm sure you will be watching the incision closely - since our experience with necrosis.  I wouldn't wish that on anyone.  Be good to yourself.  Rest.

Wow, my incision starts about 4 inches below my belly button or what is left of it - can hardly tell I even have one anymore.  But mine was due to bowel obstuction, perforated colon and the illiostomy so they had alot more work to do.  My last surgery was in Feb and I still can't wear anything around my waist without pain and even wearing underwear is painful - I wonder if it will ever go away.  It is better than it was but still take either percocet or diladid 3 - 4 times per day.

I can't believe they only gave you vicodin after an open surgery - I am glad you had some dilaudid at home.  When I came home from my surgeries - I was on high dose dilaudid every 3 hours. Thankfully my dose is cut alot and I dont' take it as often.

I am so glad you had it done when you did - dealing with a bowel obstruction is no fun.

Feel good and take care of your self.

No, they gave me dilaudid in the hospital and sent me home on vicodin...

I'm feeling a bit better today but am still taking the vicodin every 3 hours instead of every 4.  I'm watching to be sure I don't exceed the 4000 acetominophen, though...

Sorry to hear that the pain is a continuing issue for you.  I'm not sure how dressing with the incision through the waist is going to go.  Probably won't be tucking any shirts in for a while top hide not having buttons buttoned...!  Unfortunately, after wearing tunics for some many years trying to hide my huge belly, I have very few tops/blouses that are not designed to be tucked in or that come to the waist and would show that I'm not buttoned up, so hopefully it will heal quickly.
