Another "Should I Call The Doctor" Post

My daughter and I both caught colds last week and hers was over after a few days and mine has been lingering.  I have a runny nose and a scratchy throat.  Not feeling horrible but just not 100%.
Last night I noticed that I have swollen glands in my groin.  No real pain but I can see them.  It is mainly on the right side but a little on the left.  I have never had swollen glands there before.  I don't know if this is related to the cold.  Should I call my doctor or can it wait until Tuesday?

I would wait until Tuesday.  They dont' consider swollen glands an emergency.  If you were having terrible abdominal pains, that would be different but if it is just a cold and swollen glands it is probably nothing.  To be sure you can call on Tuesday, but they aren't going to do anything over a holiday weekend.  If you have a walk in clinic, you could always go there if you are really concerned

Without other symptoms like fever or vomiting, I would probably wait until Tuesday. Hope you feel better soon.

Swollen lymph glands typically are a sign that your immune system is working to fight off some infection. They are usually only intervened with if they become infected (hot and painful) other wise they will go away on their own or with the treatment for the primary infection.

I do find it fascinating that you have a head cold and they are swollen in your groin!! But that could have happened to you in the past but you never noticed before you were so thin!

If it's a cold... it should not be causing problem in your groin...neck but not groin. that is not related..
.Do you have or have you had  any insect bites, anything that would cause an inflammatory reaction  below the groin level... like a tick bite for instance?   I would seek the cause of this groin swelling after the holiday if it is not gone by then.....if you find any reddness, or red streaks go to the ER!
Doesn't sound like it warrants a Dr/Er visit to me.  I would gargle with hot salty water, drink a cup of  mint tea sweetened with honey, or nurture a cup of  sugar free hot cocoa....for the sore throat..and take something for an alergic reaction, like benadryl or allegra....
I would go to Wally- world, get some L-Lysine, (500mg is dose generally available) and take two every 8 hours x three doses then take two , twice a day to boost my immune system...until over  the"cold' then one  twice a day for preventive.
L-Lysine is a natural antiviral. I have used it for several years to prevent the flu. It will even knock out the shingles in 5 days.
