sensitivities...
So i am assuming its normal to be sensitive to smells and to not have a lot of appetite after bariatric surgery? Anything sweet i used to eat is now super super sweet to me. I am talking things like Propel Peach Zero...now is quite sweet.
But something else that i have seemed to have LOST sensitivity to is things like my bladder. I seem to not have sensations anymore to have to go to the bathroom...i know this is weird but i mentioned it in the hospital and they told me its the meds to put you to sleep..i can't spell it..lol And i DO feel full somewhat but really i have to wait for my "sigh" to let me know i am full. Will this sensation come back or am i just so intuned to my body right now that i am not feeling it?

It's normal after RNY. The thing with the smells and the taste will probably go away or at least get close to normal after a while. You don't get the same fullness feeling because when they did surgery, they cut the nerves that tell your brain when you're full. Those will heal but it might take a while. I don't know about the bladder, that is not something I've heard many other people say, so you might wanna ask your doc about it.

Are you able to control it though? Like control when you do go?

yes i can control it. there has never been a time yet where i felt like i had to go bad enough whre i couldn't control it. i never feel like i have to go i just randomly go. one other thing i have is i do get a full feeling at times sometiimes i feel lke i can just keep eating but i do know when to stop i dont want to over do it then end up bringing it all up afterwards. i also get hunger pains at times. kinda weird i didn't think i would still have those feelings.
I am 10 weeks out and never feel like I have to pee. I do go randomly throughout the day, but never feel the urge or like I "have to go right now" feelings. I think its because we are not taking in nearly as much excess fluids as we were before the surgery. I do get my 64oz.+ in each day. I'm really not sure why this happens, but I think it is normal since so many others are also experiencing it.
Its a strange phenomena. I also just go randomly throughout the day. There has been twice since i have felt "full" and thats it. Before surgery i was not a drinker....but i went 3 or 4 times a day...now i have to remind myself to go to the bathroom. In the hospital my nurses said my bladder is being lazy from the meds. I am not on any meds now. I have been drinking at least 5 to 6 glasses of something daily. This is good for me.
Also, in the hospital my right hand was "asleep". For 2 days it was asleep. They thought it was because during surgery my arm was in one place for so long. I think this happened to me too after my gall bladder surgery but not as bad.

It is probably a combination of after effects of anesthesia and the fact of your limited fluid intake. Meinwhile put yourself on a schedule, go several times a day, to keep your bladder from becoming distended..... increase your fluid intake...and get your protein in and HEAL.
Do what exercise your doc,/ surgeon recommends,...it will help yoour body to move the fluids and fat from your body. walking is always a safe choice, but also do something to build strength, like isometrics....the more consistent you do strengthing and cardio exercises the more sustained and regular your weight loss will be...generally.
