CAN WE ABSORB PROTEIN FROM PROTEIN BARS?

AT 20 GRAMS AT A TIME???
CAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY WAY I'M GETTING MY PROTEIN SO FAR (PLUS FOOD).
I have no problem eating the bars that are high pro, low sugar, and low fat.

YIKES!

Sure we can.  Why wouldn't we?  They are usually pretty high in carbs so you may not want to rely on them for most of your protein needs, though.

Use them sparingly, but if you're careful, there are many out there that have a decent amount of protein and are still low carb.  I keep all my bars at 18g of protein or higher and less than 10g net carbs.  But I only eat them when I have little choice because I'm on the run, etc.  I usually rely on RTD protein drinks for that.

Yes if you want something good try Supreme Protein Bars. These are very good at least I like them and I have tried a few.  Caramel Nut Chocolate

Peanut Butter Crunch

Cookies 'n Cream

Rocky Road Brownie

Peanut Butter Pretzel Twist

Chocolate Caramel Cookie Crunch

Peanut Butter & Jelly

Each one has 30G of Protein and they are about 400 calories.

Wow that's a lot of calories for a protein bar. My Nut said to keep the calories to no more than 200 per bar. Then again I am only a couple months post-op.

I try to keep my protein bars to 200 calories or a little less but it really depends on how many calories you need to eat in a day and what else you plan to eat  that day.  I eat six times most days, occasionally seven.  I aim for 200 to 300 calories in most of my small meals but usually at least one of them is yogurt and I usually eat yogurt with just 100 calories or less.  But some people prefer to only eat three times a day or to eat three meals a day and one small snack, and if I did that, I'd need more calories in each meal.  If I did that, I would want 400 calories or a little more for breakfast.

So much of this eating stuff is really an individual thing.  I get annoyed when dieticians hand out a xeroxed sheet telling patients what to eat because there is not a one-size-fits-all plan that actually works for everyone.  Like, eating just three times a day would not work well for me at all.  But some people do that and feel that is what works best for them.  And I don't think it's a matter of who is right and who is wrong, it's just what works best for each person.  Dieticians should be helping people figure out what will work best for them, not just telling them that they have to do it one specific way or they will not succeed.
