Hello,

I had my surgery on 06/29/11 and probably should not even tried, but DH brought home takeout about 3 weeks ago. He had brought me which use to be my fav Sweet and Sour Chicken and I took 2 bites and it was horrible to me. The chicken was to dry and it was very hard to get down. Also the taste was sooo different.  He had chicken and mushroom in brown sauce and I ended up eating some of that. Mostly the veggies. Now this might not be for everyone but since my surgery meat is not really appealing to me, I could really not eat it again and would not miss it (I can't believe I just said that LOL).  But I find Chicken/Shrimp and Broccoli and Chicken and Mushroom is really good to my pouch.

Hope this helps.

The sweet and sour sauce is FULL of sugar so you might dump from it (espically if you order it from a takeout place).  If you want to make it at home....I would use a store bought sauce that has less sugar (I think the Target Market Pantry ones only have 6g sugar per serving) and instead of battering and deep frying the chicken...maybe stir fry it or bake it?

Instead of egg rolls maybe try the spring rolls...I know the thai spring rolls are REALLY good...

That's what I do - I make a homemade sauce and then just stirfry it with chicken breast or thigh pieces. Just as good! :)

Ive been eating chicken with broccoli and chicken with veggies since pretty early out. It has always sat well with me. I guess it depends on the person.  I have no good chinese recipes....a good teriyaki stir fry always has an asian feel to it though

Here's some recipes for you. The cals/carbs will be greatly reduced because the serving size we eat will be about a quarter of what other people eat. This is a good website for food "swaps" to make lower cal/sugar recipes. Hope it helps.

Here is a recipe that I absolutely love.  I always use splenda rather than sugar and there are other options to cut down on carbs and fats that you can change.  I do not use but 1/4 cup corn starch, use 99% fat free broth or sodium free both help.  Then consider what a normal serving is to most and then what it is for you and you will be fine with it.

Most any recipe can be made to work for you but you have to tweak it some.  Well, OK cakes, pies and that sorta of thing are hard for me to tweak.
