How does caffeine effect you?

Before my surgery caffeine didn't effect me much. I could have a pop or coffee late in the day and still sleep just fine. I heard stories of people who had caffeine and it would hit them hard! Still I drink coffee now, because I work very early hours, and it does not seem to have any effect on me at all. Does caffeine effect you differently now than it did before surgery?

Nope, no change in effect here re: caffeine. Wine is different, though- much faster.

I was a coffee addict.  I could literally drink a gallon of it a day.  I also had frequent panic attacks and anxiety.  Never put the two together until after my surgery when I quit all caffeine for 2 months.  When my NUT gave me the go ahead I would have exactly 2 cups a day and the panic attacks and anxiety came back in full force.  Because of that I quit all caffeine again.  I drink a lot of decaf but I am afraid to try the real thing.   I miss it though.  I keep telling myself I am going to try a cup again and see what happens but the panic attacks are so bad that I don't want to make them worse.  I still get them but not as often.

I haven't noticed any difference in caffeine's effect on me. Alcohol, on the other, WOW! Goes straight to my head. I had half a glass of wine recently (my first since surgery) and could barely walk. The effect wore off quickly, though.

But, back to the original topic, the only thing I've noticed is my tummy protests a bit if the coffee is too strong. For instance, if I order my usual venti iced skinny vanilla latte at Starbucks, I ask for only 2 shots of espresso (it's normally made with 3) because 3 seems to make my tummy hurt. Not sure if it's in my head or my tummy, but why risk it?

I am 4 months out and have only started drinking tea for about the past 2 months and I find it doesn't affect me at all.

Coffee effects me like a kid with A.D.D that just had a jar of sugar! Had no effect before surgery but it slams me now..almost like drinking a red bull or something. I try to limit myself to 1 or 2 cups.

My anniversary (4 years..supposed to be my wedding day but we postponed due to financial reasons) is coming up on Halloween and I really want to have *a* drink. The thing is I never liked beer (tastes like the smell of cat urine to be honest)  I always drank hard liquor.. to be more precise I used to drink something called an A.M.F ... I seem to be able to handle sugar without dumping...just scared to try alcohol even though I'm a year out.

I never had issues with caffeine before surgery. I could drink it at any time day or night and still be able to sleep fine. However, since surgery, I can't drink it too close to bedtime or it will keep me awake.

I still get the same boost with coffee as I did prior to surgery but I drink less of it now.  I've only had one real drink since surgery and it came with a ball of cotton candy in it.  I immediately took that out which left pineapple juice and vodka.  It went straight to my head and disappeared within minutes it seems.  I've taken a sip of wine twice for toasts and it went straight to my head and lingered for a bit. I'm scared to drink a whole glass because it would probably have me dancing on the tables or something crazy like that. lls
