Iron Supplement

What do most people buy for their Iron supplement?  I was getting a prescription for Foltrin, but if I can get something on my own that is cheaper/more convenient that would be nice.  What dosage do we need for WLS afterlife?

And what is this about the Vit D3 being in powder form?  Liquid is no good?

I take BA chewable iron in passion fruit flavor and it's pretty good. Not much aftertaste and I take it before bed so definatly don't get much aftertaste while asleep! I take one.

Vit D3 should be in dry form. NOt sure why, it's to do with absorption but someone will be along later to explain more clearly. I also get that from BA.

It's because if it is in oil, we won't absorb it well since we malabsorb fats.  People with normal tummies absorb the D3 in oil very well, since it's a fat soluble vitamin.  That's why it often comes in those soft gel football shaped things with the oily stuff inside.  But it doesn't work well for us because we don't absorb fats very well.

The ASMBS says menstruating women need 54-63 mg iron and everyone else needs 36 mg per day.  Unless your labs show you need more, of course.  I use carbonyl iron, because it's absorbed well and does not normally cause constipation.  The brand I buy is Sundown Perfect iron, which is very affordable.

D3 does not have to be in powder form.  It just needs to not be in oil.  That's because we don't absorb fats well.
