My skin use to be absolutely fabulous.  Always soft.  Since surgery my skin is so dry and scaley!!!  I use the same moisturizing lotion on my body pre-surgery, the same moisturizer on my face pre-surgery and both my face and especially my arms are horrible.  Anybody else go through this?  Suggestions other than rubbing CRISCO all over my body??? :)

Thanks!

my skin is not the same either, it's dry and I keep getting acne breakouts on my shoulders which I've never had before.. I guess it's all the hormones being released from the fat and the dryness for me since I don't drink enough I assume is from lack of hydration

I had the same problems. It helps IMMENSELY if you can get all your water in!

Water helps, but I usually find my skin gets that way when my Vitamin D is low. Might try upping it and see if that helps/

I found when my potassium was low my skin was dry, but my husband has remarked that my skin is softer now than ever!

You need some fats in your diet.  I know my support group leader speaks of using flax seed oil or fish oil to help with dry skin issues.  DAVE

Jameen, how about rubbing Crisco all over your body? (~grin~).

I ditto what David said...get some healthy fats in your diet. I try and make sure I get a teaspoon a day of healthy fats (olive, canola, sunflower, flax oils) a day, usually by using oil/vinegar on my small salad or sauteing my veggies in a small amount of oil.

Plus stay hydrated and use that lotion faithfully (glop it on). I will say that my elbows have never been as smooth as they are now! Go figure!
