Camping!

I am leaving early Thursday morning with my horse and my big dog to go camping at a state forest until Sunday morning. I am sooo excited!!

I will be staying in a tent, but will (probably) have an electric outlet. It is at the state campground, but it is a huge charity trailride fundraiser so I don't know if I will be sent to the tent abyss of no electricity!

I plan to take my assorted box of Quest protein bars (I am so glad y'all mentioned those here!), greek yogurt / SF preserves, and almonds.  I'll have an ice chest for milk and water for my shakes and regular fluid intake.  Probably take a couple of pieces of fruit, maybe some carrots as well?

What other foods can I take?  Raw, leafy green veggies are agony for me right now - I haven't tried raw broccoli but I don't think I want to yet  lol.

Keep in mind I may or may not have electricity.  If I do, then it will be easy I can take my little skillet and do eggs, turkey burgers, etc.

I won't be riding my horse yet.... not only am I still too heavy for him , but he is just 2yrs old and not soundly trained yet.  I will be walking him through an obstacle course though and just getting him general exposure to the chaos of campers, motor homes, golf carts and other horses. It is going to be  awesome!!

I love camping...but i would call the campground for sure and ask them about the electric deal so you can plan.  But i am planner so i have to know and especially now i have to know where my little meals are coming from.  Sounds like it will be a good time though.  Have fun.

I pack my lunch for a 14 hour day for work and this is what works for me, everything can be kept in a cooler and holds well for a few days.

tuna or chicken salad, cheese, i make a pumpkin-protein pie that can be eaten cold, ricotta cheese, imitation crab sticks, lunch meat with cheese roll-ups, boiled eggs.  hope these ideas help!

I just got back from a week at Ky Horse Park with my driving pony.  I did have elec. so it was easy but here is some of what I took:
eggs
turkey bacon
lunch meat
cheese stick, all flavors
yogurt
canned salmon, tuna, chicken, roast beef
protein bars
protein powders and ready to drink

Have a great time, I sure did.

Maybe canned chili in a pot on the fire? I love the Hormel Turkey Chili, with or without beans (I alternate).

Great ideas, thanks everyone!! took me a while to get back cuz I got busy at work.
I do have an old cast iron skillet I could do "wild west" style beans and chili over the fire lol
Cheese I can do. I was thinking of picking some rotisserie chicken off the bone and keeping it in the cooler?
I can't do regular packaged deli meat (burn out), but maybe if I get some of the 'good stuff' from the deli I can stomach it better?
Thanks for the great ideas
