There is no substitute...or is there?
I used to be a firm believer that there really is no good substitute for your favorite things. A flat, whole wheat cracker with some low fat sauce and cheese is not pizza to me! You know what I mean.
Well I really miss pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, big time. So I tried spaghetti squash and really it was not bad at all. I got low fat, salt free sauce and turkey meatballs and it was pretty decent. I was surprised how much I ended up liking it. So I guess there can be substitutes.

low carb tortillas 6 in size made up like a pizza. pre heat oven. cook for 10 min on 375 . http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/09/torti lla-pizza.html
When I crave pizza I do one of two things. I buy a regualr pizza, the smallest size I can get and eat only the toppings or, and this is my favorite thing to do, I take tomatoes and slice them, put a little oregano, basil, garlic salt and onions on them, put in Microwave for a few seconds to soften the onions and also to help get the skin off the tomatoes, then take turkey pepperoni and fat free or low fat cheese and put back in the microwave until cheese is soft or melted and eat. Tastes just like a pizza. No bread to worry with this way. I know it sounds strange but try it, it might just work for you, too.

It actually sounds really good. I'm gonna make it sometime soon.
