Sometimes strangers say the nicest things
This past weekend my DH and I went to Chicago to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a beautiful downtown hotel, saw the sights, ate at some awesome restaurants, and just generally spent way too much money (hey, we were doing our part for the economy, right?) One evening we went to Lawry's Prime Rib which is an classy, expensive place with tender, delicious prime rib. I ordered the California Cut (the smallest one) and ate less than half of it, but I enjoyed every single bite. We had the cutest waitress. She was "on the shady side of 60" but very energetic and friendly. When she asked why we were dining there, we told her we were celebrating 30 years of marriage. Her eyes opened wide and she looked at me and said, "What, were you like 8 when you got married?" We just laughed and told her we were 23. "Well, I didn't want to embarrass you," she said, "But you look just beautiful."
I was so touched and it really made me feel great, because I know I don't look like I'm 38, but I do look so much younger than I did 10 months ago when I started this journey. But the best part came when she left our table. My hubby, who's very sweet, but not usually very much into compliments, took my hand and said, "You know, she's right. You are just beautiful."

Awwww, this is so sweet, especially what that awesome guy you're married to added to the experience.
I so much appreciate what you mean by strangers saying the nicest things because my own journey has been full of these sorts of experiences, and it is such a confidence builder after feeling so unattractive for so long.
Congratulations on that 30th wedding anniversary! Wishing you at least 30 more!!!
Mmmm...I have had the pleasure of eating at Lawry's about 10 years ago.... what a wonderful place to spend your anniversary!
I know the waitress must have made you feel good, but your husband grabbing your hand and telling you that she was right and that you are just beautiful had to be sweeter and better than any dessert on their menu.
124 pounds lost is something to be proud of, and so is 30 years of marriage! Congratulations on both!
I wish you many more healthy, happily married years together.
