i probably wouldn't argue that point mostly because they have to add so many preservatives.  But on the other hand its probably illegal to put something on a label on the container thats not true.  So read the ingredients...

Read the labels, don't let some "guy" feed you info. Make up your own mind.

Yes, if you buy RTD protein, they are definitely made with preservatives. If the protein level
is where you want it, get it.

Most of the protein powders have preservatives also; it's just part of the process for packaging.

I like the liquid Isopure RTD; lots of protein, but expensive. Haven't used them for a long time
because I'm using mostly food. I still use some of the Isopure Low-Carb or Zero Carb protein
powders for breakfast just because I'm not a breakfast eater, so it makes life simpler.
I also use a few of the Syntax Nectar flavors.

Who told you that?  I don't think it's correct.

First of all, premade shakes don't necessary have any more ingredients than protein powder.

Oh Yeah! ready to drink shakes have about the same number of ingredients as Chike protein powder, for instances.

Oh Yeah!

Filtered Water, Diafiltered Skim Milk, OHYEAH! Proprietary Protein Blend (Milk Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Concentrate, Calcium Caseinate), And Less Than 2% Of: Sunflower, Safflower And/Or Canola Oil, Cocoa Processed With Alkali, Vitamin & Mineral Blend (Potassium Citrate, Magnesium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Ascorbate, Ferric Orthophosphate, Zinc Amino Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Biotin, Vitamin A Palmitate, Niacinamide, Phytomenadione, Potassium Iodide, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Chromium Chloride, Cooper Amino Acid, Cyanocobalamin, Sodium Molybdate, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid, Cholecalciferol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Thiamine, Manganese Sulfate), Lactase, Natural And Artificially Flavors, Cellulose Gel, Cellulose Gum, Acesulfame Potassium, Datem, Sucralose, Salt.

Chike

Whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, natural and artificial flavor (includes annatto and turmeric added for color), soy protein isolate, sunflower oil, maltodextrin, polydextrose, corn syrup solids, magnesium phosphate, cellulose gum, soy lecithin, dextrose, sodium caseinate, salt, mono- and diglycerides, potassium phosphate, calcium phosphate, sucralose, medium chain triglycerides, acesulfame K, ascorbic acid, zinc sulfate, alpha¬tocopherol acetate, tocopherols added to protect flavor, niacinamide, L-selenomethionine, reduced iron, calcium pantothenate, copper gluconate, manganese sulfate, vitamin A palmitate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, folic acid, chromium chloride, biotin, potassium iodide, sodium molybdate, phytonadione, vitamin 03, vitamin B12.

The Oh Yeah does have more sodium; it has 220 mg sodium while the Chike only has 210 mg.

I realize these are only two brands, but my point is that it's not true that the premade shakes always have more ingredients or more sodium.

In addition, I don't know why someone told you that you only get half the protein from premade shakes, but I don't know any reason why you would not get the whole amount.  What was that person basing that statement on?

I'm going to guess that this "guy" was a salesman at GNC or something.  I've found their associates to be very pushy when it comes to trying to sell you their products.  So if you went into their store looking for RTD shakes that they don't carry (don't know if GNC does or not), but they want to try to sell you their protein powders then they're going to give you a load of crap to try to sell you on the powder.

I don't personally drink RTD shakes, but I used to and found them very handy to keep in the car for when I needed a snack and nothing else was handy.  They're also very good for travelling.

My surgeon told me teh ready-made SF Slim Fast, EAS and Atkins shakes are perfectly fine.  I doubt he would mislead me!
