Need Help!!
I am almost 2 months post op and I can eat SO much!! I know I have asked before but I need help!! I am still so addicted to food, I over eat ALL the time!! I'm pretty sure I have stretched my stomach. I don't know what to do. I have gone to support groups and I don't know how to fix it. I don't know how I can eat this much, and I eat badly. I can have a whole slice of pizza in one sitting, and I shouldn't be eating carbs at all, but I'm going crazy. I have signed up for therapy, Im waiting to start that. I think I can't reverse the damage Ive done. I'm going to try to go back to eating 2 ounces but I don't feel full and I don't know when to start. I guess the surgery was pointless, my addiction won. I havent lost weight in weeks. Oh well, just looking for advice. But I think it's hopeless. I have only lost 30lbs pounds since surgery. So sad, I am so angry at myself.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with this! Does going to the support group help you at all? Therapy certainly should once you start it.
You might also want to try Overeaters Anonymous www.oa.org Like AA they have a 12 Step Program and each member has a sponsor they can turn to if they feel like they're falling off the wagon, so to speak.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but you have to take charge of your life and be willing to make changes or you will not be able to do anything about your weight. Get any junk food out of your house. Or, if your family insists on having it around, keep it on a high shelf so that you will have to stop and think before getting it down. If you just have to have something sweet, go for the SF Popsicles (keep lots on hand) and tell family to keep their mitts off of them. Or put some SF syrup in plain yogurt or a protein shake--did you know that putting creme de Menthe SF syrup in a chocolate protein shake makes it taste just like mint chocolate chip ice cream?
Find other things to do when you are stressed--start a new hobby, go to a movie, plant a garden, go out with a friend...
Good luck.

There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

We had the same doctor. Have you met with Seema? Will you be at support group on the 9th? I'll be there and maybe we can talk and I'll try to help. It's really hard to break the addiction, but don't give up on yourself yet. Get your labs done and start therapy. I found if I tried to change only one thing at a time, I could do that and move on. So each week, pick one thing you are going to change, like "at lunch, I'm going to weigh and measure my food". I know it's hard to do for every meal, but pick one as a starting point. Or something else like "today, I'm going to eat protein first, then veggies and fruit. Susan and Seema are great for support and you should contact them and tell them how your are doing. Ask for more advice and support. There's also another support group at Good Sam, so maybe going to more than one a month would help.
I know this is a lot of rambling, but you can do this. Think back to why you had surgery in the first place. Write down all the reasons and post them where you see them. Set a daily goal, something reachable, even something small if it gets you started. And look for me on the 9th and we can talk. Just ask Susan to point me out.
You are not alone. Anger won't help. Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it (something I always use to tell my kids).
HUGS!

I know Susan is back from vacation, have you tried calling her? Seema wasn't at the last support group so she may be out of town. She never responds to my email either, but calling might work better. Do you know anyone around you with WLS or just from our support group? If you'd like to meet for lunch and just talk, let me know.

30 pounds in two months sounds pretty good to me. But it's not good that you are overeating all the time.
I think you should go see your surgeon and discuss these issues. If he thinks you may have stretched your pouch, he can order some tests to check.
When will you be starting therapy?

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Addictions only win when we allow them to.
What steps have you taken to change your lifestyle? Gastric bypass only does so much. If we're not willing to make the necessary changes to be successful (i.e. not having pizza nearby), then we'll end up in a state worse than the first.

30lbs in 2 months is actually impressive. Most people on regular diets would lose half or less than half of that.
However, it sounds like you are aware that you have food issues, and I applaud you for seeking the mental health help that you deserve.
Hang in there, small steps, one meal at a time...
