normal?
I just wanted to get some responses to see if anyone knows if this is normal or what it is. Earlier today I started having this pain near my incision on the ride side. I can't really pinpoint where it is and it's not super bad more like a mild pain. I took some tylenol for it and it went away for a bit. But now its back. I have also been having diarhhea, not sure if thats related either. Does anyone know whats going on? I think it'll be o****il tomorrow when I can go to urgent care or something to have it checked. Thanks.
You are still early out from surgery and it is completely normal to have various minor pains near the incision sites as things heal up. If the pain subsides with just a normal dose of Tylenol (and, as you indicated, returns when the Tylenol wears off), it is almost certainly nothing to be concerned about. You did just have MAJOR surgery (even though with little incisions), after all.
Diarrhea early post-op (when you are not eating solid foods (or not eating very many)) is also completely normal (and is likely unrelated to the mild pain). Rather than go to urgent care or the ER for things that are very normal -- they will likely do nothing except keep you cooling your heels for several hours -- I would just contact your surgeon's office on Monday morning.
If the pain becomes sharp and severe, that is another matter, however.

I agree with Lora. If the pain gets really bad, if you think you are dehydrated from the diarrhea, or if you have other symptoms that worry you, go to the ER. Otherwise, take your Tylenol, drink lots of extra liquids since you're losing so much with diarrhea, and see how you are doing Monday.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I have also had pain, but on the left side. My Dr. said that I probably pulled the incision area. I notice it when I have tried to do more than I probably should be doing, ex.. carrying laundry baskets or lifting my son. He said to jus****ch what I was doing and be more careful. I agree with calling your Dr. in am. Personally, I wouldn't want to go to a Dr. that wasn't familiar with my procedure. I also had some diarrhea within the first 2 weeks post op, so I don't think that is anything to worry about. Hope you feel better soon!!
