food journaling

I just recently (about 2 months ago) stopped logging all my food into the Health Tracker.  I had done it religiously since surgery and decided that now, in maintenance, I'm pretty much eating the same things, and I know I'm around 1,500-2,000 calories per day, with 130+  grams protein, and about the same in carbs.

I do write down what I'm eating in a daily post on the Alabama board M-F, but I don't enter it in the Health Tracker for now.  If I start gaining, I will log every bite again to see where I've gone "off the reservation"....but usually if I'm up a bit I just increase the cardio and that does the trick.

I'm really trying to free myself from so many "accountablilities" and just live my life....my daily post on the Alabama board helps me stay committed.....once I write it down, I don't want to change it, and I don't want to stray from it either.....

For quite a while, I ate mostly the same things too so I figured I didn't need to log every day either.  But I'm eating different things these days, trying new things, etc.  I don't think logging it every day is something we all need to do all the time.  It's just a tool that we can use if it helps us.

Kelly, we had surgery about the same time.  I journal every day.  I use nutrimirror.com. (they don't have an app but do have a link so you can log on when away from the computer) They have many features like menu tracking, recipe entering and calculations.  You can enter your exercise, water, and bodily info like weight, bp, sugar, etc.  They also have a journal room with a lot of nice people.  There are several WSL  people who have joined.  You can let others read your food log if you want and make suggestions.
I don't know if this is the only site like this but I enjoy it.  I even got a secret santa for Christmas.
I think that logging is perfect for tracking but you HAVE to be honest with your enteries.
Good luck with gettting back on track.

I didn't and gained and since I've been working on losing, I've been doing it again, religiously you might say! And I find I under or over estimate too often if I don't do it, I think I'm ok on carbs or protein or something and when I track it I realize I was wrong. So it keeps me accountable, and it keeps me on track. Also, if I know I have to "be accountable" by looking at it (and I share my daily numbers with my bff who is also on this journey with me so I know she will "see" too), then I'm not so inclined to eat something I have to be accountable for. I just use the OH one here and plan my day the night before, unless I have something unforseen then I add it (or subtract or change accordingly). It only takes a few minutes and it's very helpful! You might say it totally blows, but is very beneficial at the same time lol.
