does anyone have one of these devices, if so which one, and do you find it worthwhile?

I have a FItBit, and it was a great tool for me pre-op and early post-op, tracking to make sure I got my steps in every day.  I never had any problems with it, and it synced effortlessly.  It was also helpful in tracking my sleep (I'm a very poor sleeper) to give my doctor a good record of my sleep/wake cycles.

However, now that my exercise has moved back to the water, it is of no use to me :~(  I am probably going to post it online for sale here soon, and wait for a waterproof one...I'd love to know how I'm really doing in the pool, other than just counting my laps.

I own the Body Bugg (www.bodymedia.com). I LOVE it! I'm a data girl (IT), and I love having data (you'd almost think it fills a physical need in me ~grin~ -- some people need food, I need data). Anyway...

I have an older model (no bluetooth), so I upload the data every morning and transfer the calorie total from MyFitnessPal as a lump sum aggregate into the Body Media Activity Manager. It's an extremely easy process via USB, takes about 30 seconds and then I let it charge up. Without charging the armband device would go about four - five days (like I said, no blue tooth so it lasts a bit longer than the newer devices I believe).

I really like the Activity Manger software user interface and the new "coach" program they've implemented. The software reports out Calories Burned, Calories taken in (again, I transfer data from MFP but you can use their food tracking database), calorie balance, physical activity, steps taken, sleep duration and efficiency, and weight (you input). The physical activity can be tweaked for whatever MET range you want to declare as activity. I really like the sleep tracker....when my sleep efficiency is less than 85% I've been able to correlate an increase in my appetite. I now can see the affect my sleep efficiency has on my appetite (and mood).

The reporting module is fairly simple, but it is graphed and charted and is pretty sweet for graphical display analysis. Like I said, I'm a data girl ~grin~.

After the initial purchase of the hardware (armband), the 12 month subscription rate of $6.95 is so very reasonable for the level of control it gives you in your activity analysis and caloric burn. Of course, it's not without flaw (I think the allowed variance is 10% but that still is totally within my ballpark). It tracks personal bests (and comments on them) and like I said the "coaching" program is new and is kind of cool...it's feedback and feedback is critical in any endeavor.

So anyway, can you tell I like my armband and wear it consistently 23.5 hours a day? I like having the knowledge of what I burn, how I sleep, how much weight I can predictably lose (yeah I take those reports with a HUGE grain of salt, my body is still a mystery to me), but the device and the software program give me a great tool to supplement the surgical tool I have.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer them. I'll put a screen shot of the activity manager software up in my profile.

If you do get it, I hope you enjoy!

trinket.  I do not have it.  But I looked into it and would not spend the money.

I love my body bugg and the watch that goes with it.  I'd not have one without the other, I put in the least number of steps I will settle for in a day and then I know that after that it is all bonus.

I am totally addicted to the stats from my fitbit. I am working on having walked/run 2500 miles this year. IN the beginning of the year I tried to get 10,000 steps a day and now my goal is 20K/day. I love the charts and graphs. You can check out the website to see what you've got.
My sister had a body bug but she switched to a fitbit, cause it's smaller and she liked the graphics better than BB.
I love that I can make friends with people online through the website and track how they're doing. My three sisters and I had a four month competition for how many steps we did. That was fun (mostly cause I won each month), and it gave me great incentive to do better.
Love my fitbit.
