OMG what have I done???? Not RNY related

I had that emergency hernia repair in October (the 22nd I think), and completely stopped exercising. It hurt to much. Today because of the New Year coming, I'm trying to get back to habits that I'd built that were good. And I took out my Wii fit 2 and OMG I am so out of shape in just those 3 months. It's not fair it takes so little time to get back out of shape. I managed 15 minutes of step aerobics, but I'm seriously paying for it. I will HURT for a while, But I will DO IT AGAIN tomorrow at the latest. IF God gives me the strength I'll do it again later today. But here it is. I CAN DO IT!

The important thing here, though, is that you got back at it! You'll get to where you once were..then you'll surpass yourself and it'll feel great!

Sweetie, while the resolve is good, please do yourself a favor and don't try to get back into shape overnight.  It will just hurt too badly and then you'll quit.

Do 15 minutes daily for a week.  Then next week, do 20 or 30 minutes, and gradually work up to where you were.  I promise it will be a LOT easier on the bod and you'll be doing what you need to do.

Hugs,

thank you for the reminder. Just so frustrating when I'd gotten to where I was running some, doing the elliptical for 30 minutes a day, and playing with the Wii fit for a good hour a day. It was fun, not exercise. When it was to wet, or the kids were home I'd do the EA active 2 on the Wii. I had to do serious work to get sweaty. Just doing that little bit today I was soaked. But it will come back. I just have to make it slowly. I've been stuck at the same weight for WAY to long, and today is the first day of the rest of my life.... exercise wise.

thanks for the reminder.

I am in a similiar situation except I don't have the hernia surgery as a reason for my break. I worked out every day pre-op, including 1x a week with a personal trainer for the 4-5 weeks before surgery.
I started back for real at the gym in October (about 6wks postop) but I have not been consistent at all. I do go to the personal trainer 1x a week, but other than that it is so hard to get back to it, knowing where I was (even at 320lbs!) and how hard I had to work to get there.

But I start back this week as well... so good luck and lots of power to ya!
