When I dont feel like cooking I just have a diet swiss miss hot cocoa (3 packets) with 12 oz. skim milk = 18 g. protein

Not as good as a protein shake (38 g.) but Ill have one (or 2) later in the day.

Diet Swiss Miss is what? 25 calories a packet? 12 oz. skim = 120 calories. 12 oz skim = 18g carbs. 3 packets of Swiss Miss = 12 more grams of carbs.

So you're getting 195 calories (which isn't bad) but when we move to the protein:carb ratio the numbers get a bit worrisome (especially if you plan to drink this more than once a day): 18g of protein vs. 30g carbs (18 in the milk, 12 in three packets of cocoa). In the losing phase especially those balances are important. If I were you I'd find a way to make the protein higher than the carbs.

I'll say carbs are not bad. But when trying to force the body to burn fat it's important that the protein edges out the carbs. I hope that makes sense.

Is there a way you can get more protein in there?

Just add a scoop of chocolate protein powder to your cocoa to kick it up bariatric style.
Just make sure you mix it in a little lukewarm water to make a paste and then add to the cocoa. Mmmm....thinking about making one right about now.

When I make protein hot chocolate I use 1 TBSP of cocoa powder instead of the hot chocolate mixes.  I find it is sweet enough without it.  I also like to mix in some sugar free raspberry syrup to make Raspberry hot chocolate.  Really yummy!

I use plain soy milk with my protein shakes. Its only 80 calories, 7grams protein per 8 ounces. (I only use 8 ounces) . I also buy the GNC Lean Whey Protein, it is 110 calories per scoop, 20 grams protein and some splenda. I try to keep the shakes under 200 calories

I use Skim Plus fatfree milk. Different dairies label it with different names, but the point is that it has 11 grams of protein per cup instead of the usual 8. And even my kids say it tastes as good as the 2% stuff.
