I fell...hard
And now I am in PAIN!! I don't have any pain meds and Tylenol really doesn't work for me.
I had knee surgery 3 weeks ago, well it was more a little clean up. Doctor said I could exercise once the swelling was gone. Well, it has been gone for a week. Yesterday I took the dog for a walk at the park and it was all good. Then today I did the same thing, just went for like a 30 minute walk in the park with the dog. At the end of the walk the knee gave out, I mean totally gave out like I didn't have a leg, I fell full force on my left hip. I am black and blue from my hip to my knee. it's hard to even sit.
What should I do for the pain?
And on a side vent....why am I finding exercise so hard since surgery! I was a little gym rat prior to surgery. I could hike the longest trails, now I feel like I can't do anything. I was so embarrassed when I fell and not to mention my damn dog ran off! Ugh! I felt like a total idiot!

I would call and ask him for something for the pain....he will prescribe for you..I would call his after hours number also l...you need to watch for clots and other issues that could arise...I would him and check in..that is what you paid him for....no need to be in pain...there are meds we can take.
Also..please see my response to you in the earlier post about the Paxil....

Thanks for your response. I did see the response on Paxil and then I looked up the other drugs. I'm even more confused now. Thank you for your concern and I will keep it in mind as I continue to research what I need to do.
I don't want pain killers cause I tend to get addicted to them....I just got off 6 months of Norco (for the knee pain) and it was HELL to come off them. I was hoping for a pain therapy that didn't include narcotic.

Try some arnica gel. You can get it at walmart, it helps alot with my back pain.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I was going to as well. However, I would also suggest adding oral arnica. Vitamin shoppe here carries it as well as most health food stores. A good brand and one readily available is Boiron. The oral form comes in little blue or lavender tubes. Twist the cap to allow the pellets drop into it then allow them to dissolve under your tongue. It's important to not handle the pellets because the medicine is on the outside of the pellets. Don't drink or eat anything bu****er 30 minutes prior or after taking them as it can reduce the effectiveness. Also, coffee and minty things, even toothpaste, can reduce the effectiveness so the same rules apply. Arnica is a homeopathic remedy and is very effective for reducing inflammation and muscle soreness. I took it after my first surgery after confirming with a pharmacist that is wouldn't interact with any of my meds. I used to be a massage therapist and not only did I use it myself but recommended it to my clients with great reports back. If y can find the 200 level, try one at time at first to make sure it doesn't bother your tummy. You can take them even every hour at first and take more at a time based on your tolerance.
I think you're gonna need to go to the ER to get some pain meds. I hope you feel better soon.
