What helps the chest pain?

I'm on the mush phase and only had a greek yogurt for breakfast, isopure sipped throughout the day, chick salad, & for dinner fish(which normally I'd hate but strangely liked). I waited an hour and took to sips of an isopure and omg I feel like my liquid is trapped in the center of esophagus & my chest. It feels like it's being strangled. I keep trying to burp but barley can... What do I do to relieve this pain?

Ouch! Did I gulp instead of sip?

Sometimes air gets trapped and forms a gas bubble that causes that type of pain. Also, if you start to having pain after eating and drinking when you didn't before it could be a stricture, which is worth calling your surgeon for.

There isn't anything you can do to avoid a stricture, they just happen to some post ops. It's when the stoma heals quickly and creates extra scar tissue and shrinks the stoma. They can happen typically between 6 weeks and 3 months post op.

It's also possible that a piece of fish is stuck, because it wasn't chewed enough. Papya enzyme works really well for breaking down proteins to help. It doesn't work as well on fruits and veggies.

Thanks so much it's still hurting...ugh...anything I can do to get this gas bubble moving? Gosh I hope it's not the other stricture! I haven't had any food issues & this is hurting!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm so scared to eat or drink this morning!

I've been known to walk around my house flapping my arms trying to get a bubble dislodged. Like doing the chicken dance at a wedding reception....yeah, it's not a pretty sight, but it usually is effective.

I just had this happen and hubby looked it up on line and they suggested to take Papaya enzymes.  We thankfully had them in the house, hubby takes them for gas. And IT WORKED!!  I took 3 of them and felt the food moving down. needless to say, I will be keeping these close to me!!

A tsp. of yellow mustard will relieve it for me almost immediately.  Just take really slowly and kind of lick it off the spoon.  The person who told me about it said to put it on the back of
your hand and lick it off.
Wrinkled was not one of the things I wanted to be when I got older.

So many people have written about papaya enzymes, I'm finally going to ask:

Where does one get them? Is this a health-food-store sort of item, or can one find it in the drug store or supermarket?

What form does it come in? (Powder, pills, what?)

How much should one take?

Thanks!

You should be able to find them at any Walmart or drugstore. Papaya is normally where the vitamins are.

They're chewable pills. generally I take four or five at a time, but they work primarily on meat, and you shouldn't take them if you are stuck and full, because they cause a lot of saliva too, and it can sometimes make things worse.
