Just need to vent
Not looking for advice. Just looking to vent. So frustrated right now. I looked back at my weight journal and I've been playing with the same 5 pounds up and down since the end of October. And no, my measurements aren't shrinking "while my body readjusts." GRRRRR!!! To top it off, I had surgery in June on both my legs, revision surgery on my left leg in October, and revision of my revision surgery 2 weeks ago, so haven't done any exercise to speak of since surgery in Aug 2010. I'm bored with just sitting and I'm annoyed with the stagnation.
On the upside (?), another semester from hell starts next Tuesday. Only 4 more semesters and I'll finally have my associates degree (20 years later).
There. I feel a tiny bit better now....as you were.

Is it possible that your body is done? And has reached it's desired goal...which SO often does not match ours?
I had my goal set at 140, which is in the normal BMI range. I hit 152 for a minute. And then leveled off at 155. Stayed there a long time, now closer to 160 but that is due to significant muscle gain from weight lifting and running (still in same size clothes).
Sorry you are frustrated, hope you feel better and keep fighting the good fight! We are here for you!

Before my weight gain, I weighed 95 pounds. I'm a nonmuscular, light-boned person. I'm still obese at 155. While I may be done, I'm not ready to say I am yet. I'm not 2 years out and I know the second year is more challenging than the first year. I also know in the back of my mind that hitting goal without a panniculectomy is probably not in the cards. I'd be happy with a 20 pound lost knowing that was as far as I could go without the surgery, but it's hard some days to watch it bounce around for what seems like an endless amount of time. I was a slow but steady weight loser until October. Nothing exciting but 5 pounds a month consistently. Most days I'm up and thrilled where I am. Today I'm not so much.

My exercise physiologist taught me that the real way to lose weight is resistant training. You build muscle, which takes more calories to support metabolically. You can't use your legs, but what about your arms? I bought dumbells used and can even use them when just sitting around. There are chair exercises, too.
How tall are you?
Are you tracking every bite that goes in your mouth? How much protein are you getting?? The further we get out, the easier it gets to eat more and if we're not careful, we can all eat too much.
How many semesters is an associate degree? I thought it was 4 total?
Hang in there!!

I'm 5'4". I am tracking everything. I'm on the lower end of the protein range, but work on that on a daily basis. Recently figured out I'm lactose intolerant so adjusting my diet accordingly.
An associates is a 2-year degree. I was in school 20 years ago but stopped when I had my last child. I started back a year ago but because of change of major, it was like starting all over again. The severe stress of the last semester combined with my uncontrolled epilepsy led me to change my plans and switch to part time for the rest. I'm also on a new medication that is helping the epilepsy quite a bit. I researched it and found nothing showing it was one that causes weight gain but I wonder if it's not contributing somewhat. I know the biggest factors are that I'm very close to goal and over a year out. Just irritated.
On a side note, I'm also irritated that I tried to cut my own bangs after not having worn them in 15 years. It's a sad sight. LOL
