It never ends!
My last round of Ulcers was about 12 months ago and things have been great since. However last night upon drinking a thick protein shake I had made I got a shooting pain in the pounch like Something was stuck and just wanted to throw up incase something was, but the the pain started shooting down into my lower abdomen and had me doubled over (not easy thing to do). Well I ended up going to the ER and getting an IV, like usual I was partially dehydrated, and some awesome painkiller!!
Xray showed no blockages or anything else and labs all came back normal. I am both glad that they didn't scope me because I have had so many already, but also nervous because if it is the start of the Ulcer I know what is in my future.
So here I am no living the life a fresh post-op on liquids and next week I get to move to pureed!
Let me just say this whole dehydration thing is starting to royaly **** me off especially with how much I drink!

I'm sorry...that really sucks. If it helps, the part of our stomach that is severed no longer has a chance to regulate sodium/water balance so what ends up happening is that we're all put on a sort of surgical fluid pill. What that means is that we urinate regardless of our fluid intake. It makes becoming dehydrated very easy within our population. On the up side, people with high blood pressure often don't need meds because this is like taking a "fluid pill" without having to ever take medicine. Keep drinking but know that it's a physiologic issue that you may never be a ble to fully compensate for. Maybe that doesn't help...sorry. I'm in the "knowledge is power" camp so I figured it wouldn't hurt to know that even if you're drinking more than enough your body may not be able to regulate your fluid balance and you may keep getting dehydrated. Boo! But look, it sounds like you take good care of yourself and I always like reading about your runs! It really motivates me to move. Thanks. Again, I hope you feel better soon and that this will be a short-lived problem. Take care. :)
Thanks for the reply.
I think my dehydration has more to do with my sweat volume during my training. It isn't uncomming for me to lose 2-5 pounds over the course of a workout. Granted workouts are 1-3 hours in length, and this is while consuming another 60+ ounces of fluid while working out.
I rarely drink plain water or even crystal light anymore but live on powerade zero and over hydration drinks. I had hit a patch where I knew I was hydrated but still having issues and I believe it was because my elctrolyte levels were dilluted from the water I was drinking.
On days where I am training my fluid intake can easily reach 200oz.
