OT:Paula Dean....
I do want to add that one of her sons is working on remaking all of her recipes and making them healthier. I think he's going to have a show on it. Not My Momma's Cooking or something like that?
To be fair to Paula, she has been making an effort to showcase healthier recipes like grilled tuna for the last year or so. And when she does make something ridiculously over the top, she does say that she doesn't eat that way every day. But .....
My biggest problem with this announcement is that she didn't make it until she could make a profit from it. According to her announcement, Deen was diagnosed 3 years ago, but didn't say anything about it until she could "bring something to the table" in regards to the disease. No, she kept it quiet until she could take something FROM the table -- namely a lucrative endorsement from the drug company that makes her diabetes medication. Paula Deen could have been working to educate and inform people about living with type II diabetes, and even better, how to prevent it, through her TV shows or through a non-profit organization like the American Diabetes Association, but she waited until she could make money from her disease.
While that may be the textbook definition of making lemonade when life hands you lemons, I personally have a problem with it.
Just my 2 cents.
