poll - for those at least a year out
Hi everybody,
I am very happy with my results. Happy with my life - happy to exercise (This is a shock to me). I run and swim and am ACTIVE.
I follow the rules most of the time.
I hope I am not done losing - still have 20 pounds to go.
I am 18 months out.
A lot of people say this isn't the easy way out, but for me (so far) it's been super easy. I couldn't/didn't/hadn't lost weight without this surgery. And I've had zero problems. It's early still, but I couldn't be happier.

I am 2 1/2 yrs. out.
I am mostly happy with my results- I still have yet to get to my goal (my surgeon doesn't believe in goals) and I would like to see 175 again in this lifetime, and I have MAJOR excess skin which I can't afford to get rid of.
I was very stringent in rule following, until this past holiday season, where I ate whatever I wanted but didn't go crazy. However, I saw what a slippery slope that was, and knocked it off as of New Years, and don't plan on going back anytime soon.
Regain? I dunno, I began working out hardcore, so some could be muscle. I mean I can ride my bike for 6-8hrs at a time, but I was at 185 before I picked up cycling, so who knows.
All I really want right now, is to be strong and healthy...it's like they say, a journey!

I have to say I am not happy with my results. I'm even less happy to say that it's all my fault. I haven't followed the rules as I should have. Not even close sometimes. I was 2 years out this past October. I spend most of my time beating myself up for all my screw ups. In spite of being so unhappy, I do acknowledge what I did accomplish, but I know it should have been so much more. I don't like my body, my attitude or my total lack of motivation. Ok, well this is all TMI. Oh, I haven't had any gain, but came to a screeching halt in losing probably after the first year.
i'm 16 months out (in 4 days).
i'm mostly happy with my results. i'm curious where i would be with my panni removed but that won't be happening anytime soon (unless money starts falling from the sky or something). it really depends on the day, how i feel about things.
i would say most of the time i follow most of the rules (if that makes any sense). i usually drink when i eat, but i still stay full for a few hours, although my rd said as long as i'm not eating more at my meals and eating more often she's okay with it, so i guess it's not total rule breaking.
haven't had any regain, i've been within the same 5 lb. area since october or so

Happy with my results - depends on the day! I am with Nik I wish I could acknowledge the 110 pounds I have lost and have maintained. (I just want more!) I think I want to be NORMAL, which I am 5'2" so it is really not going to happen. I am about 2 1/2 years out. I have just finished my plastics (except boobs which will happen in the next couple of years, but that is purely cosmetic, they do not impact my daily life like my butt and thigh did)
"Rule following" - I am good on all fronts most days. We all have bad days, but I continue to be frustrated that I don't understand my body anymore. (I can have net calories of less than 800 and maintain and not lose, but as soon as I try to raise those calories as the nutrition thought I might be in starvation I gained.)
I guess I have not had regain, even though it did start; therfore, I dropped my calories and worked out hard. I refuse to go above 160 no matter what. I want to still lose another 15 to 20 pounds, but if I don't it is okay as long as I stay at 110 loss I am good.

I may have had a few extra potholes along the way, but the journey has been good!

I had VBG in 1986....it was a DISASTER. I am 14 months out from my revision to RNY. I am DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY with my RNY. It cured my GERD. I am off all my meds. I am healthier than I have ever been.
I follow the rules 90% of the time. I dump, so that keeps me very focused on what I am eating. I stay away from all things white (potatoes, pasta, rice, white bread, and sugar) I rarely miss my suppliments. So far my labs have been good. I was told my D3 is too high at 125. My NUT told me to stop taking my suppliments....so ...I ignored her. I did cut back on the dosage a little. On my previous labs my D3 was 36. So I know that level can fall rapidly. I don't drink with my meals...EVER.
I am 15 lbs. below goal ...so I have a little cushion for regain. My husband says I'm too thin. I probably could gain a little...but right now...I'm rockin' a size 6...and I'm loving it!

Would you say you are very happy with your results, somewhat happy with your results, or unhappy with your results? I realize that if you're only a year out, you may still be losing.
I'm very happy with my results. I've worked hard to get where I am, and am working hard to stay here. I'm 152 pounds down.
Would you say that you have been "following the rules" most of the time, some of the time or hardly ever? And you can define "the rules" however you want, I'm not going to try to define that for you.
I follow my "Big 3" rules. I do not eat sugar. I do not drink while eating or for an hour after. I do not eat high fat/fried foods. I'm imperfect with everything else, but these are my solids.
For those more than a year out, have you had any regain? And if so, are you OK with it or do you weigh more than you'd like to now?
I'ev not had any regain. I bounce the same 5 pounds around for a little while, then drop a pound or two and bounce in that range.
Oh, and how far out are you?
I'm 22 months out. The end of March will be 2 years.

I am delighted with my results. I have lost 140 lbs, nearly half my body weight, and maintained that within a five pound window for nearly two years since reaching goal.

I follow the "rules" pretty much all the time; which for me means low to no starchy, processed carbs, sugar or flour. I don't eat fried foods. I take my vitamins and supplements religiously. I don't drink with meals (except coffee with breakfast.) I don't drink soda, and limit artificial sweeteners. I focus on protein. I have my labs examined regularly. My exercise is admittedly erratic (sometimes I'm more regular about it, sometimes less) but I do as much as I can. My worst vice is the occasional drinking of alcohol, which I didn't even attempt until two years out. Oh, and I believe in using real butter and real cream in my coffee.

I've had a tiny bit of regain, about five pounds over the top of my comfort window, but I am going through other medical issues and I think its mostly about changing hormones and the onset of menopause. I'm not happy about it, but I'm working on it.
Oh, and how far out are you? Feb. 15 will be my fourth surgiversary.
Thanks! You're welcome!

I'm mostly happy with my results thus far. I feel I'm still a work on progress, but very happy with the progress. Weight has been stagnant for the last few months, but I haven't been able to exercise since I had surgery in June. Once I'm up and moving I expect the weight loss to continue. If it doesn't, I'll deal with that then. Refuse to believe I'm done given that I haven't finished giving it my all to get to my goal.

Rules as defined by my doctor are 50% protein, 50% veggies and only 3 meals a day. Based on that, I'm half compliant. I also eat healthy snacks between meals. No way I could get enough nutrition in with just 3 meals and I need to keep my brain functioning while in school.
For those more than a year out, have you had any regain? And if so, are you OK with it or do you weigh more than you'd like to now?
I'm probably not far enough out for regain yet but plan to to keep it at a minimum when I get further out by continuing as I am.
Oh, and how far out are you? I am 17 months out.
Thanks!
