Circulation issues?
I was wondering if it is common to have circulation issues after WLS... For the past couple of months, I have been cold ALL THE TIME! Its not uncommon for me to be in a short-sleeve shirt, long-sleeve shirt and a sweatshirt, 2 pr of socks and slippers. If I'm siting down I usually have a blanket on top of all that... I just cannot seem to get warm. Thank goodness my husband's coworkers like baked good. I am constantly baking so I have an excuse to stand in front of a hot stove/oven!
My hands are like ice all the time. My poor kid woke up in the middle of the night the other night and when I went to settle her back down she commented "mommy, you were just outside" when I touched her.
I'm just wondering if this is a somewhat common issue among post ops, or if its just me...
I don't really know that there is anything I can do about it, but if anyone has any advice I would love it.

It is common to be cold a lot... your body is used to having to only exert "x" amount of energy to keep your warm (becasue your fat helps keep you warm) and now it has to exert "x+y" energy to do the same thing. It takes it a while to adjust (and sometimes people don't ever completely adjust). As far as I know, however, it is not specifically related to any kind of circulatory issue (other than that you need blood flow to help keep you warm).
When I was pre-op, I routinely ran around without a coat (or just a light one) except when it was very cold (although my hands and feet would still get cold sometimes). This is my 4th winter since surgery, and I am just now starting to notice that I am not quite as cold as the previous winters... but I still get cold very easily and, more distressingly, if I get too chilled I ahve a really hard time getting warmed back up. It usually takes a hot shower/bath or crawling under an electric blanket.
Down-filled items (comforters, coats, bootie style slippers), angora blend socks and heavy sweaters and bathrobes are my new best friends.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

That is also a sign that your metabolism is lower than before.
Make sure your doc checks your iron, - the full panel. High TSH (relatively - 3 or more) and low T3 may contribute to feeling cold and lower metabolism.
Low ferritin (below 50, not below 10... that most labs us as standards) may cause that. Also lower B12- I get cold when my B12 drops... that is a reminder that I need another shot... (I do need them weekly - most people - once a month).
When I get cold - I would take hot shower... and put woolen socks on.. And warm slippers. As long as my toes are warm and dry... I feel much warmer...
