OK, so maybe I'm being very bad. I'm on pureed foods and I ate chicken broth with noodles. Yum, those noodles were so good! I chewed them well--did I do a bad thing?

I don't think you're bad, but it sounds like you're not following your post op diet plan.  Did you puree the noodles?  It sounds like you didn't.  And does your doc recommend pureed noodles at this point?

I am not one that thinks we should always follow the advice of our doctors, no matter what.  But I think we should follow it unless we have a good reason to do something else.  Why do you think your doctor's advice to puree food at this point is not a good idea?  Why do you think it's a good idea to eat noodles even if he recommends avoiding them right now?  And I don't think "because they were yummy" is a very good reason, do you?

I think I did it because I was hungry and I feel fine! But you're right, I'm going to call his office right now.

I was TERRIFIED to eat anything not advised. I was already scared about the surgery itself. I was blessed to come out of that with no complications. Once I got home, there was NO WAY I was going to mess it up by eating something not on my plan. My doc was VERY clear...the diet is simply to allow your insides to heal...you eat something too soon and cause damage...you will have complications that could last the rest of your life.

Since you posted this...you'll probably get a variety of replies...but my concern wouldn't be if I was "bad"...it would be if a noodle got stuck in my staples (or something to that effect!)

Stay strong...you can do it! The restricted diet is only a short period of time compared to the rest of your life!!

You're right--I'm probably way to cavalier. I DID chew the noodles thoroughly into a paste before I swallowed, tho. It felt good to chew.

My surgeon gave a guideline to follow but did say all cases are different and people tollerate foods at different stages.

I sort of pureed foods in my mouth with a little water during the pureed stage rather than get the blender out for each tiny meal...it worked for me.  Unless, your just gulping the soup and noodles, then I'd be afraid a noodle could get stuck.

Even if you feel fine and the noodle didn't get stuck, the pouch is SO small, you don't have room for such non nutritious food. I know it can be tricky, but it really is part of the LIFESTYLE change that we need to make, and part of that is following good dietary guidelines.
