Starting out & things are going FAST!
So I have been researching this surgery for 10 years and finally I am doing it. I went in to my consult met the dr. He was very nice BUT they said ok you need a psych consult, nutritionist, lab work and a sleep test. ALL are lined up for this week and next week. I am heading to my primary dr. For the weight check. Everything will be done HOPEFULLY this next week and I will just need 3 more weight checks w my primary dr. And surgery can happen in MAY!!!!! I am so excited. My friend had it with this dr she was 290 down to 145 in 1 year and a size 8! She is healthy and enjoying life. I can't wait to be healthy again I don't have any co morbidity issues so this is just sliding get the and to lose this weightto live a long happy life. I look forward to sharing in our journeys!!!!!

so happy for you. i had surgery 10 days ago. NO REGRETS!! just make sure your pcp keeps records of weight loss and nutritional advise so your insurance will be happy(is your insurance requires it). i say this because fed bcbs denied me cuz the pcp had not worded each visit as they wanted him to...GOOD LUCK
Congratulations on your new journey you are about to embark on......
Some advise that I would say.......
1. Don't compare your progress to anybody not even your friend no matter how similar that things may be.
2. You are not in competition with anyone so don't say " I have only lost 2 pounds this week, I am a failure" that is not true. For me anytime I was losing was a huge accomplishment. i had the mindset as long as I was not gaining i am good.
3. You will most likely lose inches within the first few weeks of surgery due to the drugs being in system. Then you will see the pounds drops. Your body will be holding on to as much fat as possible. Just keep to your program and you will see the weight drop.
4. Your weight didn't go on overnight so it will not come off overnight. There is not a magic pill...Learn to eat healthy and make better choices.
5. We are always here for you to vent, rant, gloat and inquire to.
BEST OF LUCK!!!

Thank you ladies for your advice and kind words. I am so excited for this journey and I had a great appointment with my PCP and she has me on 2100 calories a day and workout a hour 4-5x a week. She said in reality you might find that you don't need this surgery you will have me every step of the way. She was really nice and said call me if you are ever stuck and need a healthy alternative to make something.
It is great to see that you are feeling so good so soon after surgery.
Have a great day everyone!
