I'm going on 5 weeks post op and I have days where I'm Nauseated but I have to rhyme or reason why?  It doesn't happen at a certain time or because of a certain food.  I could eliminate what is making me nauseous if I knew but I have no clue.  Anyone have the same thing happen?

Ask your surgeon for either phenergan or zofran to help withe the nausea.  That's what i had to do.

I'm about 9 months out and still occasionally get nauseated. Sometimes I think I probably eat too fast or something just doesn't sit well with me. Something I could tolerate last week just may not sit ok this week. Last month I could eat a little rice. This week I threw it up. I think its just part of the process. Taking phenergan was a life-saver for me. I remember being nauseated for days at a time and there wasn't anyway to get rid of it. Sorry, I wasn't more help. I just think its something we all deal with.

I got a prescription for sublingual (under the tongue) Zofran. Just pop one under the tongue and shortly the nausea is gone. It has been a lifesaver at times!!

I'm going to call my doctor on Monday and ask.  I spoke to the pharmacist at CVS and bought some Tums for now but I'm going to follow up with them as well.

to get you thru the weekend, try mint tea and/or ginger tea. Altoids also makes ginger mints which are VERY strong. Ginger helps with nausea....

Nausea can also be caused by being dehydrated.

The PA in my surgeons office told us as pre-ops that even when you don't feel like swallowing anything because you feel gross, sip, sip, sip. A lot of times, that's all it takes to feel better.

I second the mint tea, ginger, as much fluid as you can  keep down. It's weird but a full tummy of water or tea makes me feel so much better.

I had lots of naseua. I was told to drink plenty of fluids. Dehydration can cause naseua.  Also from what I understand, if you are prescribed actigall, it can cause naseua. I have a bottle here that I havent started taking yet out of fear. but i suppose that since it's been about 2 months of no naseua for  me, I should be fine.

I'm a year post op now, and deal with Daily nausea. Sometimes things like saltines help. Sometimes it's take the zofran and lay down ( I also occasionally get light headed with it). But recently I had to have a urgent surgery, and well, didn't take my vitamins for a couple days. NO Nausea. That couple days turned into weeks, and a month, and truth is 3 months for some. Some I took when I thought about it. I experimented and found it was the B12, the calcium and the iron. Found a good iron. I'm now taking that without issues. The calcium I have to take, and just take it with zofran. The b12, i'm getting shots now.
