Ate too soon post op ?!

I'm almost 2 weeks postop and I just caved. Been so tired of soup, yogurt, jello, that I tried a few pretzels and sharp cheddar cheese. I chewed them to mush but looking at my plan from nutritionist I have 2 weeks left of purée. How much damage did I do? Can eating too soon bust staples?

as far as damaging your pouch you are probably ok. As far as learning the lifestyle and keeping to the plan, I would recommend sticking with it even in the tough times
Don't eat soup and yogurt ---- fry an egg in Pam instead of grease and puree it. Scramble an egg w/ cheese and chew it to mush. Have some laughing cow light cheese wedge. Put some tuna, low fat mayo (I used 0% greek yogurt) and a splish of pickle juice in the blender - use canned chicken instead of tuna. Put a dash of taco seasoning in your beef broths.

edited - careful with the eggs, some folks have trouble with them. I never did - I guess because they were moist???

Unfortunately I dont stomach eggs well but will try your other ideas thanks. I think I just wanted to chew and I kinda figured the texture was the same chewing it to mush . Guess I'm just rationalizing what I did !

I think the texture was ok... the issue is pretzels = carbs and right now you need the protein. I personally don't see a problem with cheese.

Kelly does a great sounding ricotta cheese, spaghetti sauce mix... try the search bar for "pureed" and you will probably find tons of great ideas - that is where I got mine when I was in that stage.

Good luck!

Yeah, just put a couple spoons of ricotta cheese in a bowl, top it with some spaghetti sauce and a little grated parmesan (the real cheese, not the powdered stuff in a can) and nuke it 'til warm.  I'm three years out and I STILL love it for a quick lunch or snack.

top right of your screen is a "search" bar.  Plug in "mushy recipes" or "pureed recipes" and you get pages and pages of hits like this

I am only a week out, and I also have trouble with eggs, but I have found that pureed chili with a spoonful of 0% fat greek yogurt is very good, and tastes a lot like real food.

Try to stay on plan and follow your doctor's protocol.  You don't want to eat anything that has the potential to swell once it gets into your pouch.

The first time I got sick, very, very sick, I ate 1/4 piece of very toasted bread with melted cheese and the crust removed.  I ate it a week or two before I was scheduled to add that into my diet.  What I did not know at the time is bread swells.  It was painful, and my pouch just could not digest it for a long time...hours.  I was newly post op at the time and had not learned at the time that I had a very picky pouch.  We were only allowed to add one food item at a time so we could identify problems in the event something made us ill.  I wonder if pretzels could swell too?   I don't believe you did any damage, but I would stick to plan.

If you did not make yourself sick you did not due any damage.  But pretzels this early out is not good.  The last thing you should be eating is food made with white carbs (flour, sugar).  How about refried beans,  cottage cheese,  egg salad, tuna salad.  The ricotta and marinara is a great
