clothing question
I got a couple pair of Spanx on eBay - that are now too big
but only paid $20 for both pairs together and they got me thru some fancy occasions. I also bought an Assets camisol on clearance and use it really frequently.

I don't use anything really. I tried Spanx and some other "sucker-inners" but found that they just enhance whats left of my stomach. I usually look fine enough without anything underneath. I will say that a lot of people use the slimpressions line. Expensive, but even I have looked into those. They are more designed for every day use and for extra skin.
I wear Spanxs or some other type of "foundation" garment everyday....and have since WAY before I even thought of surgery. For me it's part modesty (somewhat), part "southern' upbringing, and part vanity. I was taught at an early age that foundation garments are just that...the foundation of your wardrobe and if worn correctly (sizing, type, fit) they enhance your appearance in clothes (and keep any jiggle in place). I have a variety of types and sizes that can be worn separately or together to smooth everything out. I'm personally not a fan of sucking everything in...I don't really care for feeling like I'm in a sausage casing, but smoothing out the lumps and bumps is what I'm going for.
Here's what I own and how I use them:
Daily use/Moderate control:
High waisted spanks panties: These are great under pants and shorts even. They have a cotton pantie part and go all the way up to your bra line. They smooth the tummy, get rid of love handles and back fat, and conceal panylines under tighter fitted pants. The best part is that because they go all the way up to the bra line, there's no muffin top!!! No rolling down and believe it or not for me, they are really comfortable. These are best when your concern is more the tummy area and not the thighs/butt.
High waisted spanks footless tights/regular tights: These go under pants (think linen slacks or thinner dress slacks) and longer skirts. They have all the benefits of the high waisted spanks panties, but they also have control in the butt and thigh area and slight control all the way down the leg...perfect if you have that bit of "fat" at the bottom of your thigh/knee area that you want to smooth out. For the footless tights the control top goes down about mid way the thigh and unlike the spanks that stop at the thighs, these sort of look like pantyhose from that point and go to the calf area. So you don't have that point mid thigh where the spanks stop...no rolling up...and no bulge in that area. For the regular tights, at the point where the control ends, the material is either like regular pantyhose OR like opaque tights. The footed spanks I wear with skirts and dresses with whatever shoes I'm wearing. The opaque tights I wear in the winter, the pantyhose ones when the weather is warmer. I know a lot of people don't like pantyhose, but my granny taught me that a lady should ALWAYS wear pantyhose with dresses/skirts and if I DARED to walk out the house bare legged I got a stern lecture. So I pretty much wear hose with all skirts/dresses. The bonus for me is that it keeps that dayum thigh rub to a minimum.
Control Cami: I have a TON of these. I wear one just about everyday. For me they work very similar to the high wasted spanks panties, but the control is stronger in the "muffin top" area and the "back fat" area. Great for everyday usage, even in the summer.
Special Occasion/Higher Control
Waist Cinchers/corsets: I own several waist cinchers and corsets (both under garments and ones that can be worn alone). I'm talking old fashioned, steel boning, need another person to lace them up, catch the vapors waist cinchers and corsets. I have a special fondness for the way they can give ANYONE an hourglass figure. They lift the boobs, suck in the waist, and make those hips pop. And under a nice dress or evening gown....you WILL be the belle of the ball!!!
one piece "body suit" shapers: I have a few of these....I have the ones that are like a one piece bathing suit and the ones that come down to your knees. They provide great sort of all over smoothing and shaping. I wear these under dresses, suits (skirt and pants) where I don't need a lot of "hold" but I want a lot of smoothing. These are not my favorite because they can tend to have that "sausage casing" feel to them which I don't like. But if I'm only wearing them for a few hours then they are OK. I wouldn't wear them all day.
Hope this helps!

Can I just say I love you??

I was brought up that you didn't leave the house without making sure all buldges were smoothed out and everything was in control. I am starting to believe that I am one of the last women left on earth that actually looks at their butt before they go out the door. Panty lines and buldges are everywhere! Last week our Director was in a sweater dress....oh my.
I think because she is not fat she doesn't realize that she does have a tummy and it's lumpy.
Oh well...I'm the last of a dying breed I suppose. Which might be for the best.

Yes...I think we are...and I think I'm from a totally different time period because most women my age (I'm 32) act like they were never taught some of these things. I used to get teased by friends in college because I wore slips with dresses and such...but I've NEVER had the horror of finding out that someone could see all my business....after you've had said dress on all day....and been to any number of different places...and no one bothered to let you know.
Maybe it's because my Granny lived with us growing up and she was in her 80s when I was a kid. Let me tell you she would SURELY stick her hand up your dress to see if you had on a slip and pantyhose with school uniforms or dresses! And I'll never forget when I got my first girdle...I was 17. I went to school thinking I was hot shyt with my cute little heeled sandals and linen pants outfit on dress down day. Yeah when I got home, Granny PROMPTLY drove me to JC Penney's and purchased a girdle because she feared some boy (or man because I was an early bloomer and was stacked at 17) might get the wrong impression because of the "booty jiggle".
And a lot of "skinny women" think that foundation garments are for "fat" women. I've had to tell several of my smaller friends that "cellulite knows no size...it is an equal opportunity affliction".

No worries about a dying breed ladies! I'm 29 (so about the same as you) - I was raised the same way - I don't wear a slip but only because I have come to love undershirts and leggings! You will never see me with a short dress on without almost knee length shorts at the least. My daddy (yes I'm 29 and still call him daddy and mom is mama) anyways I was talking to him about this yesterday. I got some clothes from craigslist and one of the dresses was only knee length (above the knee..major no no in my book) ..he raised his eyebrows - I just said "no daddy, one second let me show you how you raised me"..I came back in with solid cotton leggings under the dress and he just smiled and hugged me. I also sew up my shirts - I dont want the "front butt crack" effect.
To make it even better: I was bridesmaid dress shopping online with my JUST turned 17 year old and 12 year old neices...they asked me why those girls were wearing underwear instead of dresses!!!! THANK YOU LORD!! They asked if we could find some floor length GOWNS!! I am SO thankful their daddy raised them right! Thank God for southern mamas!!
Have a wonderful night ladies! We are not a dying breed, there's just less of us around. PS: My granny would have loved you guys!
