Does anyone have a problem with constipation? If so, what ways are best to keep regular?

I have a lot of trouble. I usually only go about every three days and I have to take a stool softener or miralax.

My doctor suggested trying the stool softeners (they usually work in a few hours) first and try not to rely on the laxative. He said the miralax should only be used if necessary.

I have been using Miralax and 4 Colace together daily for years, and magnesium oxide and fiber pills in addition since surgery on my doctor's recommendation.

None of the above is habit forming, and they have made a regular difference for me!

Little bit of extra fat in your diet will help or eat something you know will get you "moving".  Runny eggs do it to me every time - still.

Do a search for "constipation" and you will see a long list of what others have to do to remain regular. Hope this helps!

I had a problem with it after my surgery.  So much so, that I developed an anal fissure.  This is horrendously painful, as is the repair surgery.  Do yourself a favor and take Colace or some other softener daily.  I take 3 every morning now.  If I miss a day or two I can tell.
