2 years out...What/How much are you eating?
I eat pretty often, about 6 or 7 times a day, but some of those meals are protein shakes, yogurt, protein bar, sugar free fudgecicle, things like that. I really don't get hungry so I schedule my food.
The only really hard and fast rules I impose on myself is no sugar and no gluten, as well as no spontaneous eating. I try to plan things out and not eat mindlessly but to be aware of everything I put in my mouth.
6 out of 7 of the things I eat daily are almost all protein. I may have something that isn't protein at all like popcorn but that is rare. I get in about 150 grams of protein a day, as well as at least 100 oz of fluids.
I try to keep structure and discipline in my eating but not be so controlling that I don't enjoy food.
My amounts vary from 1/4 cup to over a full cup, depending on what I am eating and whether or not its a small pouch day or a big pouch day. My goal every time I eat is to be satisfied with what I eat but not overly full or stuffed. That is why I either have things that are already portion controlled or I measure things out. If I go out to eat and can't measure I try to err a bit on the smaller side for portions.
Good luck, you will get the hang of it.

WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010
High Weight (2002) 240 Revision Weight (2010) 220 Current Weight 115.
I am 2 years out, don't track calories though but the last time I spoke to my NUT 1500 calories was about what she thought I would need to maintain 150 lbs. I lost weight until about 18 months out and then bounced around in a 5lb weight range but in the last month have gone out of that "comfort" zone a couple of times. So I am realizing weight gain is a real posibility if I don'****ch things. Of course I also have lost the discipline that I once had--I don't binge eat or eat large quantities like I did pre op, but if I think about what I ate in the week prior to a weight out of my comfort zone I realize that I usually had dessert at some point and had low protein snacks and or meals. IF I follow the rules and eat over 80 grams of protein a day, have protein 1st and everytime I eat something I don't gain and don't desire to graze either! So for me that is the key.
Also I still do a daily protein shake-my surgeon asked me about this at my 2 yr check up as he said most people have given them up by 2 yrs--even though he recommends a protein shake every day for life for RNY.

How many calories you should be taking in is really dependent upon how much weight you need/want to lose, how much exercise you get, and the intensity of that exercise.
I'll be two years out at the end of March. I eat between 1200 and 1800 calories a day, depending on my choices. I still do not eat added sugar, and I do not eat fried or excessively fatty foods. I do eat carbs occasionally, but more often than not I don't eat them.
An example day is this:
A bottle of water on the way to work - around 730ish.
Breakfast around 8 am is 4 oz of )% Fage with 1.5 oz fruit (usually frozen cherries) and two Splenda topped with 0.5 oz (about 1/3 cup) of Special K Protein plus cereal and 2 tbsp ground flax. It's around 3/4 of a cup of food volume wise.
16 oz decaf coffee with two splenda and 2 tbsp fat free non dairy creamer. Another bottle of water (or two).
Lunch is around noon. Today it was 3/4 cup of leftover dinner. It was chicken breasts, cooked in the crockpot with salsa and ff cream cheese, shredded.
More bottles of water.
On the way home from work I will have a Pure Protein bar.
Dinner is 3 oz of lean protein - usually chicken. Sometimes I have steak, but that's infrequent. I make two sides, one is a veggie and I eat 3 oz of this. The other is a starchy side and I rarely eat this. If I do it's one bite for flavor. Occasionally I'll toast a loaf of bread up to go with it. IF I cave in and eat a slice of the toasted bread then I'm done for the meal - I can't get anything else in. Sourdough is a very tempting bread. :) It's not an every day or even an every wee****urance.
There may or may not be a snack between dinner and bed. That depends on what time dinner was. If it was early - then probably. If it was later (8pm or later) then no.
Now. I average about 1500 calories a day. BUT I workout quite a bit. I do 5 hours of power/core yoga a week and I run a minimum of six miles a week (three miles twice a week). I probably should try to increase my calories even more because I am dipping a little lower than I'd like lately. I bounce between 133-136 most days.
According to my RMR calculations I need about 2600 calories a day to maintain my current weight. I don't know how much stock I put into that number, but I know I probably need around 1600-1800 for sure or I start to drop again.
