Weekend Snacking

I find that during the week, I have no problem staying on track. I have my schedule, which really helps me to be able to stay focused on weight loss and be successful.

But, on the weekends, I don't have a set schedule. I have a lot more time to lay around and watch movies without anything set to do. So, I find myself snacking.

For those of you who have a problem with this, how do you avoid snacking throughout the weekend?

PS, this week I have an appointment with a new therapst, so hopefully I can get insight into WHY I do it, but just looking for other's solutions.

Snacking out of boredom has always been my problem.   I have taken up crocheting - I can do it while watching TV; also, I try NOT to just sit around.  Even if it means going to the Mall and walking around, I get myself out of the house.   Find a craft show or museum - go to the gym -  keep yourself busy even if its only for a few hours each day on the weekend...make plans and don't just lay around.

 Thanks Irish,
You're right. I'm slowly realizing that TV is my biggest enemy LOL. That's absolutely when I snack!

thanks for your advice!

Yeah, the boredom snacking is hard. I only have 1 day a week off, so trying to fill my schedule to avoid the kitchen also doesn't give me any down time - I try drinking alot of hot tea to avoid snacking. I follow the 30/30 rule, so if I'm constantly drinking, I can't be constantly eating! Sometimes it works, and then sometimes (like last night, after I took my Ambien!) the snack monster hijacks my brain and has its way anyway. In the form of 4 Dorito chips. That I apparently had enough sense to log in MyFitnessPal. At 11pm. Oh well....

I have that problem too if the hubs is home so I just plan my day to eat several legal "snacks". Yesterday was a latte from Starbucks, a (thin)slice of pumpernickle snack bread with cheese, some peanut butter banana protein "fudge" (no sugar or sweetner at all and sooo yummy!) and hot wings for dinner. I never had to wonder about anything because it was all planned.

Can you make yourself a schedule for the weekend?  Even if it includes things like watching movies, you can plan what time you will eat and what you will eat.

One way I avoid snacking is by  not having much to snack on in the house.

Also, it helps to have something to do with my hands while I'm watching TV.  I crochet or sew or stuff like that.  Impossible to eat at the same time.

Thank for all for the responses.

Yes, Kelly, I think I need to find something to do with my hands when I watch tv, and set a schedule.

I try to set a schedule, and sometimes it works, but sometime I fall from that as well LOL.

Thanks Blonde, I will start planning in some treats, thats a great idea!

I think I also need to always measure, because I log on MyFitnessPal as well, but when I'm doing a whole lot of snacking, I seem to not measure anymore.

Thanks again guys,

Steph
