OT Need Advice About Responding to a Job Ad XPost
I have been out of work for about 2 1/2 years. I haven't been looking too hard lately because I am working with Voc Rehab and taking classes to improve my chances at finding a job.
I have sent out literally hundreds of resumes and not gotten one response. I have heard that this isn't too uncommon, that many job openings get so many responses that they can't contact everyone who expresses interest.
Last week I was looking in Craigslist, like I do pretty regularly, and saw an ad for a job that I think would be perfect for me. I sent out a resume and a few days later I actually heard back. The person wrote "I do like the resume you sent to me ....when are you available for an interview?". I wrote her back and said "I should be available any time after this Friday." This was last Monday. I was kind of distracted because I was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday and I didn't want to say anything about that because I didn't want her to think I would have any health issues that would prevent me from doing the job.
As soon as I sent the email I regretted not writing more, at least thanking her for getting back to me, or something to let her know I really was interested in the job. I haven't heard back from her and I'm afraid I blew it.
Is there anything I could do or say at this point? I was thinking about writing her back and asking if they were still interviewing but I don't really know what I should say.
Is it too late or is there any advice on what I can do to let her know I am interested?

Perhaps another email to say you're following up with interview schedulers (because you want to appear in demand?) and still wanted to express extreme interest in the position and for her to respond at her earliest convinience?

You can also add something additional to the resume...
"I was really excited to have opportunity to talk to you about the position. I believe I can do exceptional job doing... x..y..z.
You can reach me at you convince by phone or email.,
