Hey Lisa! Good to see you around! I'm sorry to hear about your complication, but it does seem to be at least not uncommon. And, just think, once you get some treatment under your belt, you will feel better and have more energy to get those last few pounds off and reach that goal you've got your eye on. Good luck to you. I'm not sure how common it is, given the ever-increasing numbers of people having RNY it would not surprise me if hematologists are seeing a "lot" of RNY patients... but, based on the experience of people I know in "real life" who have had it, I don't think it's really very common in terms of the percentage of RNY folks who need infusions. Of the couple of dozen people I know from local support groups, etc., only 2 have had iron infusions. One needed it only once (after her first post-op labs); the other one has had a couple of rounds of it.
