Clothes
I posted a little while back that I was worried and could not make myself go thru my clothes. Well I finally started this weekend it was both very sad and happy. Sad because I have to say good bye to some very cute outfits that in some cases I only wore once or twice. Happy because I felt like I truly have made some progress in my weight loss. I literally pulled every item off of hangers tried them on and then placed in the get rid of pile, possible sell or donate pile. I also pulled two of the numerous Rubbermaid clothes that had been too small it was amazing how many of even those are too big. But at least my clothes situation is not as horrible as I thought it would be. Of course as I lose more these too will become too big. At least it gives me some time to save more money.
I loved remembering all the fun I had in certain outfits but all to quickly I remembered how I hated being the heavy person in the room....you know what I mean....in the summer all the cute sun dresses that everyone but me could wear....cute shirts and I'd be in capris cause my upper thighs shouldn't have been exposed.... I consigned , donated to a friend & tossed my clothes with a big smile on my face! Bought a size L jacket today which was a shocker because trust me no other L will fit me! YET!
Congrats on your journey!

I have shopped there too, but I never have the time to look through everything, our stores sort by color rather than size. I sell what I can at the consignment stores and donate the rest to the Goodwill or Brothers and Sisters resale store. I have given away many garbage size bags of clothes since my surgery, a lot with tags still on them.
Think of it this way, they will go on to bless someone else. Remember how hard it was to find nice clothes that fit when you were larger. Now someone else can have nice clothes without spending a lot of money.
i know how you feel. I am always sad to let them go. Last week I was searching for an outfit for an event. I had the perfect sweater in my give away pile. Unfortunately it is now about 10 sizes too big.
If you do donate remember to save your receipt. It will be tax deductable on next years tax returns. I don't usually worry about it, but since I have given away my entire wardrobe it is well worth the deductions.

What a blessing you must be to your local clothing charities and especially now while the economy is so unstable. If you lived in Oklahoma City, I would beg, borrow or steal your clothes to sell in our thrift store that provides homes for displaced women and their children. We provide for our families by operating a 25,000 sq. ft. thrift store that has a Plus size section with sizes up to 6X. Gently used plus size clothing is hard to find and hard to keep since we sell them for $3.99 each piece.
So glad you could take another very positive step in your WLS journey! I'm apx. 30 days pre-surgery and can't wait to get going! Keep up the good work! ~Vicki
