Papaya Enzyme

I got some, but is it the right kind?

It's chewable.
It has:

Papain 45mg
Amylase 6mg
Protease 6mg
Papaya Fruit 3mg
Calcium 157 mg

The directions say to chew 3 after a meal.

Is this the right kind?  It's not working so well for me.  I accidently swallowed a bite of chicken, the first bite (and the last for now, cause I'm developing an aversion after all this agony) of my dinner without chewing it enough.  It was chewed, just not enough.  I want to put the vacuum cleaner hose down my throat.

I've never used the papaya enzyme, but I assume it will take some time to dissolve the chicken.  The first time I got chicken stuck (the only food I've ever gotten stuck, and 4 times nonetheless), I found immediate relief after making myself vomit.  It was so painful that I just wanted it out as quickly as possible.  I hope the papaya works out for you, and soon.  Good luck.

It sounds correct to me. I have only ever seen chewable papaya enzymes, but as I understand they can be found in capsules. Chewing them breaks them down so they can quickly go to work to help break down or loosen dense items. They help work in place of digestive enzymes. They always work quickly for me (luckily I have only had to use them a couple times)!

3 tabs is to assist digestion. I used 6 and after suffering for 5 hours before I located some, I had relief within an hour.

I hope you get relief. After a couple of horrific episodes early out with stuck
chicken, my surgeon advised me to take a couple of very small sips of Coke.
Worked like a charm.....well....that and not eating more chicken until I was
about 7 months out. Good luck!

I am sorry your having discomfort.  Chicken is a toughy on newly outers.  My suggestion to everyone is go to the deli and get some nice chicken and turkey breast.  It is soft, easily breaks down and very versitile.  I used to get it..thow some hot sauce, warm it up in the micro and throw some blue cheese on top.  Loaded with protein.

now about Papaya enzyme.  It only breaks down protein...Please please save it only for emergency situations.  Papaye enzyme is technically meat tenderizer.  It is used in cooking to break down tough meats.  It isn't something you want to use in your tender pouch if you don't have to. You need to use this experience to learn ...before you are ready to swallow...ask yourself, is what is in my mouth soft enough  to go through an opening the size of a dime.

We have all gone through a bad time with food getting stuck and we all learn from this.

Please avoid the Papaya...it really isn't good for us.

My friend had some meat get stuck in her pouch. She was in so much pain she called the surgeon and he recommended doing a meat tenderizer ****tail. I guess it's the meat tenderizer you buy in the spice section at the store and mix with water. Maybe there's something online about it. Good luck.
