Carb / Protein Ratio
Yesterday I added the myfitnesspal app on my phone. I played around and found the little "pie charts" that show the breakdown for daily ration of carbs / proteins / fats.
Wow.
What is a good ratio? I don't eat white rice, bread, pasta. My carbs come from fruits and veggies, protein powder and skim milk. About 2x a week I have a slice of P28 bread, about 2-3x a week I have half a WW flatout.
My ratios run about equal on carbs, fat and protein.... (26%c, 35%fat, 39% protein; 37c, 25f, 38p; 23c, 36f, 41p)
help?
Warning - I have a pouch the size of a soccer ball. :(
(but I don't eat all of this, it is just a sampling of what that meal may include)
B - workout days I have a shake
- protein, skim milk, 1/2 banana
non-gym days I have "breakfast"
- P28 bread (1 slice cut in half) sandwich of egg and deli slice ham, cheese
L - lately steamed tilapia, cheese, steamed veggies, grape tomatoes
- or whatever my folks are having - meat and veggies, no bread, rice, pasta
D - lots of salmon on 1/2 WW Flatout w/ cheese tomatoes; steamed veggies;
also grilled veggies this week (pepper, asparagus, baby carrots)
S - cottage cheese, pineapple or strawberry; greek yogurt "cheesecake"; g yogurt w/ SF Strawberry preserves; turkey pepperoni w/ laughing cow light cheese; fresh raw veggies or fruit
I like checking out the weekly charts too..pretty awesome! Data is a wonderful thing, and the ensuing enjoyment in the analytics. But I always temper my enthusiasm for data with just going with the flow and being flexible about this journey. Yep, I'm a laid- back-don't-get-my-panties-in-a-wad-data-and-numbers-kind-of-gal. It works for me, but would probably drive many other successful color-inside-the-lines folks plumb crazy!
